I think Spence, Crawford, Prime Thurman, Ennis, and Ortiz would beat the WWs in the 90s

This is based on this list.
I think these four would easily dismantle Forrest, Carr, Paige, Blocker, and Lopez (These 5 were in the same class as Danny, Ugas, Brook, and Porter.

The top 5 would be highly competitive but I think the WWs we have today were bigger, stronger, faster, more conditioned, and more skilled (due to advancements in technology, medication, and health.) I think the WWs of the 90s are sort of overrated due to the fact that we live in an era where nostalgia runs a muck. But if you think about it, Pernell would've been too small for today's WWs (his best years were 130,135, 140.) Oscar was just another Keith Thurman who lost every big fight he had. Tito was a one-dimensional slugger with a punch (he would've been dismantled by skilled counterpunchers like Crawford and Ennis. McGrit belongs in the second class with the others. Ike Quartley would be a better version of Porter but fall due to his lack of killer instinct. Thoughts?

You don't think athletes are better?

depends on the athletes. there are a bunch of indians in the mountains of northern mexico who are eating up the best long distance runners the world can throw at them, while running in frickin sandals cut from old tires. and theyve been untouched by outside influence for centuries. why hasnt our best left them in the dust?

Of course sports science etc mean that athletes are improving. But when comparing fighters you go by the eye test and there were great athletes in the 90s. The likes of Roy Jones and Mike Tyson for example - they are better physical specimens than the current crop

We still have athletics world records from the 90's and even the 80's, so even if the advancements of modern training, nutrition and recovery, athletes now are not all guaranteed to be superior to athletes from the past. A big part of advancement in sport also comes from equipment technology. For example over the last few years we've seen athletics running records tumbling at an unprecedented rate, we had 3 new world records just in the last week or so. That isn't due to all the athletes suddenly becoming better, it's because of PEBA foam based running shoes with carbon plates or rods, it's completely changed the game, making everyone faster by just wearing a pair of these shoes.

Boxing is also very much more a skill based sport, where fitter, faster, stronger fighters can be beaten by superior skills. I also disagree about Oscar being another Keith Thurman, Oscar's accomplishments dwarf Thurman's, Thurman wouldn't even be competitive with De La Hoya and I think Oscar was quite frankly overrated in his era.

Based on what? He lost every big fight. He would be just another Porter in this era

Nah, doping was much more abundant in the 80's and 90's than it is today. There are a lot of fighters today doping too but they can't abuse it like they could in the past. If you look at Florence Joyners career and think otherwise you're just being ignorant.
