I think the Golovkin we saw last night is what we will see in his next 2-3 fights!

Why? Simple. Golovkin's defensive reflexes are now just ordinary. Hey--it happens with age, and at 36, with his style and the total amount of professional and amateur fights, it's expected.

When GGG had some issues with Keli Brook winning two rounds, what happened? He flipped a switch and became a destroyer type, taking Brook out and breaking bones.

The same thing happened last night. His opponent had a quick jab and took round one landing some clean shots. Then GGG opted to become an aggressive destroyer and slug. The result was a KO of the year type of candidate vs. a durable veteran who has never been stopped!

While GGG's jab remains excellent, he also has world-class, power, chin and pretty good accuracy. As he ages, and won't be able to out the box the quickest jabber and movers anymore so expect to see the destroyer come out again...the one who broke Brook's jaw and flattened Martirosyan to emerge again.

Good news for the fans, and it shows Golovkin is a pretty smart fighter who has the heart to do what he must to win.

This makes sense and I hope it’s the case. Although the blue print to beat him becomes much more clear now; avoid him and pot shot him. That makes for an ugly win (but still a win).

You are correct with this analysis. Triple G is getting ripe to be picked off but he is smart enough to know it and will go full throttle destroyer mode.

I don't really think he went destroyer mode, it was calculated pressure as usual, it started off with a counter and then finished with a very crisp combination.

Fair point although you’re missing something out here and it’s something I was looking for, against Kell Brook and last night against Vanes he had no respect for either guy.
Golovkin can still move when he wants to as with Canelo in the first half of the fight he was always on the balls of his feet, stepping back when Canelo attacked, don’t wanna shatter the myth of him always charging forward cause by and large that’s what he does but the difference between his fights with Jacobs and Canelo and the rest is like night and day.

I hope you’re right as I expected him to fight Canelo like he did Brook and Vanes but the fact remains he did not.
That said this is the reason why I still have Golovkin beating Canelo 9 times out of 10 as we saw the most cautious underwhelming version of Golovkin against Canelo and he still won fairly comfortably in the majority of folks views.
Not knocking your post merely pointing something out that I noticed.

There is a blueprint and I don’t knock em for it either as going toe to toe with Golovkin is just asking to be beat.
Thing is though with that method, rightly or wrongly the judges by and large seem to favour the aggressor however successful so even Golovkin on an off night still wins the rounds and however we look at it I can only think to the judges that it’s hard to go against the champion of four belts that still fights for every second of every rounnd like his titles do matter.

he will be ok, i believe, against everyone except canelo and possibly jacobs, they both have the speed and power to hurt ggg if they catch him with a few, and they will catch this ggg. although i think canelo will be more willing to push his advantage when he sees that ggg is getting caught by punches he used to slip.

    He's never had good defence.

His defesive strength is his offensive skills.....

His head movement has always been none existent.

You can’t be serious.. He always fight this way against the likes of Monroe, Wade, Brook and now Vanes.. They were no threat to knock him out so he was willing to fight that way..

Why didn’t he fight this way vs Jacobs after the knockdown and in the fight vs Canelo and even vs. Lemieux.. end result could possibly be a KD or even KO

I love GGG but come on man the he’s a monster myth has been gone.. Every elite fighter with power looks like a monster against average comp..

Pretty much this although I don’t think it lessens his power or anything but you’re right the better the opponent it’s just a fact that it’s harder to knock em out though I do feel in a rematch Golovkin wouldn’t be as nervous as he looked against those two and would look to take more chances as the OP said.

Golovkin just needs to fight often. Inactivity hurts him. He came in flabby to the Canelo camp and I think it may have affected his performance.

Golovkin haters are bragging about Charlo beating a cripple who could hardly walk across the fight! Wow! Charlo beat a cripple, that makes him the greatest fighter of all time! Next? An unknown fighter who is a Pee Wee Herman clone.............................then Jacobs almost gets beaten by a jr. middleweight! Got hit a lot, good thing is was not Golovkin! Golovkin said he wants Saunders, but Saunders still refuses to fight him, so he said if he can't get El Pollo, or after he knocks El Pollo out, he will fight the winner of Charlo/Jacobs, they will find that Golovkin is not a cripple, Pee Wee Herman, nor is he an unknown feather fisted jr. middleweight.......................Golovkin means business now more than ever, he knows the powers-that-be in boxing want him to lose and will cheat him.
