I think this guys defense was the best ever

great post. i'll have to consider if he's the best pure boxer ever though he's definitely in contention. you very clearly lay out his strengths and weaknesses (as few of them as there were)

 

Whitaker seems to get the love on these forums, but Wilfred Benitez deserves a mention to.

I'm sorry but that clip was hardly a common occurance, didnt whitaker score like three KO's in all of his title fights. He was a pure boxer, not a brawler; and as with all pure boxers he could be boring to watch at times.

Great fighter he was, Gatti he werent.

Normally i dont like show boating, but Whitaker had great defence.. really skilled!

 

Floyd is a level higher than pea and pep. Pea slips and slides while catching grazing shots all the time. He got a lot of flash in his defense but he gets hit. Floyd slips, duck, blockes, pick off shots, and get out of distance. people overates pep mediocre competition and Pea's defense wayyyyy to match. hell floyd even holds the highest accuracy and least hit upon ratios in compute box.

 

I would put Guzman ahead of pep and whitaker too. Guzman have the best standing defense i have ever seen.

 

Compubox numbers make Floyd a "higher level" than Whitaker?
