If I was Hopkins I would try and fight Adamak at Cruiserweight and call it a day. If he won his lengend would only grow. He would have been THE: Middleweight Champion Light Heavyweight Champion Cruiserweight Champion that is much more impressive than what Glass Jaw Roy Jones did by fighting a paper beltholder in Ruiz at Heavyweight. Winning trinket belts means nothing. Being THE Champion of a Division is what it is all about.
oh...thankx. so yea hopkins proved everything he needed to prove so i think this should be his fairwell fight. or maybe carl froch looool
All jokes aside I'd give B-Hop a great chance against Valuev.... If he can come in around 190-200 lbs...
The sort that Boxing News must have as well. According to today's issue of Boxing News James Toney has called out Bernard Hopkins. They claim that he wants to fight him at Cruiser... Maybe there's something in this after all but I suspect the fight would be at Heavy.
Stranger things have happened. B-Hop can't get JC again and I'll bet he wants another payday. Toney has declined significantly of late. Maybe B-Hop is thinking "easy-pickins" and the scalp of an (albeit faded) multi-division ex-word titlist? With the s**t talking that both can do, it might even get a little interesting - at least before the fight. If it's true - which I doubt - and if it's at cruiser, Toney's going to have to get into some kind of shape, at least to make the weight. I'd guess he'd get 'up' for B-Hop, and maybe even dig down hard in training? Even at 60 - 70% of his best, Toney can be a tough challenge, it might even be a good fight? I can dream can't I?
Boxing News says that Toney insists he can get down to 185lbs. That means he'd have to shift 34lbs. It's not impossible but can someone who moved up to heavyweight because of their "Cheeseburger diet" have the discipline to lose that much? Ricky Hatton loses nearly that much at a much lower weight if rumours are to be believed. What's in this for the two fighters? Let's not kid ourselves into thinking that HBO couldn't turn this into a slightly successful PPV show. A 24/7 with Toney and B-Hop would help generate enough interest for casual viewers to buy the main event. They could both earn a lot of money and the winner could even end up fighting Valuev which, both being American and the recent Holyfield decision, would also have an "easy sell" about it. Will it happen? I'm not sure but I first heard this story a couple of weeks ago and started of my post by saying "I think this might be a lie". Today one of the most respected Boxing publications in the world has the same story... Someone out there is trying to generate intereest in this fight...
