I think Usyk should retire - is it worth losing it all?

Hes done it all. He exposed two biggest frauds in boxing and did it 2 times. He can retire as a legend. A lightweight rabbit who conquered the heavy division.

He has money, he has fame, he has legacy. But TO RETIRE UNDEFEATED and UNDISPUTED makes you be a LEGEND.

Imagine if Dubois or Parker after that or whoever is mainstream big shot at the moment in boxing beats Usyk on a lucky punch or just on the fact he is old, or gets hit by a powerfull punch on the chin. Usyk is great, but he is not undefeateable no matter how much Usyk fans praise him. I personaly think Usyk cant get to the level of endurance he did with Fury and AJ, he is old, his body cant keep up. And what will be a year from now, you think Usyk will move a same with 150 million dollars in his right pocket, and 3 belts in his left pocket. No way.

Imagine now Parker, or Dubois or whoever becomes a guy that beat a guy, a lineal champion, from old Usyk. It is the nature of the sport, but it doesnt have to be.

Retire, become a legend, raise morale in Ukraine. Let the division fighters earn their keep.

Fact is, if you lose your 0, you lose your status and place in history.

We've had enough Floyd Mayweather zero hoarders in boxing. All the greats in heavyweight have losses, there's no shame in that. Let him chase as much glory as he desires and make some great fights.

Also if he exposed "two frauds" in what I'm assuming you're referring to Fury and AJ, what would that mean for his legacy? Stop discrediting his wins.

Definitely needs to beat Dubois/Parker winner.

I'd also love him to face the winner of Zhang/Kabayel and Bakole.

If he did that he's cleaned out the division.

He's in a blessed position where outside of Dubois, the best fights to be made will be his mandatories which makes them very easy to negotiate. Although Canelo was in that same boat and completely messed it up lol.

First off, he didn't expose two frauds. He beat the other best heavyweights of his generation which were guys that would have e destroyed a lot of former all time greats.

Usyk is a smart guy and will retire when when he feels like he is slipping. After his last performance, he likely has at least a couple of good years left.

If they were frauds, then he hasn't much of a legacy does he

Dont let your hatred for Western boxing spoil what is a admittedly good topic

For me, he should bow out now

Nothing else for him to really achieve and by trying to achieve things that won't do much for his lasting legacy, he risks being beaten by somebody who really has no business having a win on him on their resume

Usyk continues daring to be great, unlike most other ATGs in history. Floyd's key skill was avoiding difficult fights, he isn't in Usyk's league.

Am I right here and I concede I might be getting this wrong?

Usyk is now the 9th oldest HW champion of all time

The third oldest unified HW champion behind Wlad and Jersey Joe Walcott

The second oldest undisputed HW champion

And everyone ranked above him other than Wlad and Jersey Joe Walcott only held one belt at the time

And that there have only been 4 HW champions who were older than 38

If he is still champion in about 8 months he will be the 5th oldest HW champion ever and the 2nd oldest unified HW champion ever

And he's only 1 of 2 on the top 10 list who isn't a natural/career HW. Holyfield being the only other and the only other who was giving away huge physical advantages or always doing so.

Ali and Walcott were natural HWs for their eras

Foreman, Wlad, Vitali, Maskaev, Lewis, Sanders and the displaced Willard were all giants, big or natural HWs

I may be off here but if I'm not wrong, I'm right and even if I am wrong I've been right so goddamn often I might as well be right and it will only be a matter of mere minutes or hours before I'm back to being right again :deal:

I am also of the opinion that he should retire, he won everything, beat the competition, there is no need to prove himself to anyone anymore...

Great post as usual. I think I may need to take a long break from the classic forum where guys talk about how Uysk isn't a great heavyweight because he has had less than five quality wins there. They fail to realize that Uysk has beaten more men over 200 pounds than Joe Louis did. Louis's three losses were to sub 200 pound heavyweights. Every Cruiserweight that Uysk fought was probably at least 210-220 on the night of the fight. Schmeling was 194 when he knocked out Louis. Just imagine this forum if Uysk had lost to a 194 pound fighter.

That isn't how classic sees it. They almost always just wait for fighters to retire before evaluating their careers

They did it with Wlad, with Vitali, with Lewis.

I'm not so sure about that. That forum has turned into a bunch of Tony Galento worshipping fouls.

That's just not true. But maybe if the forum seems full of fools who all disagree with you, you staying away might make the forum seems less foolish to those who frequent it.

Why you don't want your favorite boxer to be challenged by different fighters ?

He fought two champions two times and that's it ?

He should fight two times per year at least and that goes to every other inactive champion.

Floyd avoided difficult fights? You have seen his record haven't you? I have said this before but I doubt many fighters have a comparable record, undefeated or not.
