I think Usyk should retire - is it worth losing it all?

    It's not worth it.

There's a difference between protecting your zero in your prime and retiring when you are old so an inferior (younger) fighter doesn't wreck your legacy.

It's also not like tennis where you keep playing but the worst that happens is you lose to a lesser and go home. But you've already racked up a bunch of wins against that guy when you were younger etc. And you can't get KO'd.

Though we also don't know the politics going on. Maybe there is pressure to keep fighting.

But it's a myth Usyk is small. He's bigger than Holyfield, Tyson, Haye, for instance. He's 6'2 at least and 100+kg lean, that's not small. He is functionally bigger than many HW's who are simply fat and would be under 100kg lean.

People complain about the rematches, but call for them when it suits their fighters lol.

It will be tough to hold losses against him. He is past his physical prime and achieved the top of the mountain. The rest is side quests and money fights. Depreciating gains

Retiring with zero losses makes you more immortal in some people's eyes, not mine though

Others say he could pass the torch onto someone else by losing. Boxing tradition

This is exactly how I see.

The likes of Jones Jr and Hopkins who lost way past their prime don't have those losses held against them for the very reasons you outline here.

All these options on the list as pointless for him at this stage.
He's far beyond that. Retirement is a great option.

Usyk has indicated this won't be his last fight. Perhaps retiring now would be the best thing for his legacy, but he knows his own body better than us and if he feels now isn't the time then perhaps he believes he can add to his legacy. Beating the winner of Dubois vs Parker in Poland would be a fitting end, but then if the fight with Beterbiev is available I'd like to see him do that after beating the winner of Dubois vs Parker as well

As good as his resume currently is, having Parker & Beterbiev on there would add to his legacy there's no doubting it

He has enough to take care of the business against the Dubois/Parket winner.

Then he can retire as the two time undisputed HW champion, which is a cool feat to have on your resume.

Would also like to see him take on Beterbiev at 200 for p4p supremacy, but I don't think Beterbiev is getting past the Bivol rematch with his O and his p4p ranking intact.

Hopkins doesn't but RJJ certainly does he gets labelled "glass chinned" and fans do take shots at him for getting stopped by Tarver, Johnson, etc. Had RJJ retired after the Ruiz fight he would've been seen in a much different light.

But it's only fans who don't like Jones who say things like that. Anyone being objective knows when he left the HW division he left his prime with it.

I think alot of people have this perception though that if you land a decent shot on RJJ's chin even in his prime he falls over I think that's nonsense honestly.

Another silly myth is that anyone who stands up to Tyson he loses.

Never worry about unobjective opinions because by definition they're not being objective.

My issue is sometimes I let myself get baited into silly unobjective discussions in future I'll take your words into consideration.
