This is the scenario that is the most likely to play out come fight time.

It really is. Arreola is not ready for Vitali, he is too green. Even if he catches Vitali with a big shot, I am not sure Vitali will get knocked out.

Unless Vitali grows old overnight or is physically sick or something of the kind, I see him handily pummeling Arreola round after round till Arreola drops.

Arreola is small and does not have experience fighting top level talent at all. He is also rather crude from what everyone is saying about him. Vitali will have a huge advantage in size, strength, reach, experience, psychology and probably skill as well. I don´t see Arreola posing much of a threat and I think Gomez was probably a much tougher opponent.

Ok Arreola is not really small, but compared to Vitali he is.

I wouldn't bet on it. Corrie Sanders was one of the most powerful yet awkward fighters in boxing history and a southpaw. Arreola is a shorter, fat, orthodox fighter, with a lot fewer boxing skills than both Sanders and Gomez (two men Klitschko dominated). Plus, Arreola has been floored by a Klitschko sparring partner in Travis Walker. I like Cris but this is a bad fight for him.

    Vitali tko2 Arreola

The argument over whether Arreola could beat Vitali is so pointless that people have turned this thread into an argument over the Vitali/Lewis fight and Vitali´s all time standing or how he would do against the all time greats.

Corrie Sanders was a semi-pro golfer/semi-retired boxer by the time he got his hands on Klit the Younger. That loss was shameful.

And I don't recall seeing Sanders' name on any "hardest hitting heavyweight" lists.

Only Klitschko nut-huggers believe that CRAP...

Klitschko is a smart fighter and he's experienced with better stamina. I don't discount Arreola but I'd still have to bet on VK.

Me too. I'd want odds of about 50 to 1 before I put any money on Arreola.

I honestly think there's only a couple of ways to beat Vitaly.

One is to take the Lewis way (don't mention cuts....). And that requires somebody that is as big and strong as Vitlay, and is willing to take a punch to land a punch. You have to be big as well to reach him in his sway back style.

The other, is for the shorter guys. I'm yet to see anybody really dish out a concerted body attack on Vitlay. If you can't reach his head, then hit his body, and eventually his head will come into reach. You'd need to have a good chin, be able to get past/through the jab, and have power and workrate.

That's simplistic I know, but I don't think a 'throw the kitchen sink for 2 rounds and see what happens" will work. Everybody can be knocked down (yes, I think Sanders hurt him, but needed to follow up straight away), but I think he'd probably get back up.

Arreola has nothing in this fight that's needed to win. He's coming in fat, and regardless of the "it's boxing not bodybuilding", ANYBODY will find it harder carrying 30 pounds of extra useless weight around. I don't think his chin is superb - so what's his game plan going to be?
