Thats bull****. Mendes would have beat McGregor if he had more than a two week camp. He lost because he gassed fairly quickly.
Yeah I agree Stephens would have been tough and I can't blame him knocking it back Ortega had everything to lose and nothing to gain fighting Stephens who likely wouldn't have even been able to cut weight. Stephens is talking all kinds of **** about it saying Ortega has knocked back fighting him a few times and there has been issues between them since they had a run in a while back. If Holloway is going to be out for a while maybe they can match them up for an interim title in the next few months?
Him gassing had nothing to do with the devastating shots he was hit with did it. Are you crazy or just not sure what you are looking at?
I have no stake in it either way. I'm very familiar with Mendes's career though. His two week camp left him grossly deficient in the cardio department. That much was very clear. And with a full tank of gas, he definitely would have pounded McGregor out. He wouldn't have been spent after losing the guillotine. Sure McGregor hit him with some shots, but to act like that was a 100 percent Mendes and not a 30 percent Mendes is laughable. Be a fan, not a fan boy. Nobody is even near their top form with only a two week camp.
I think that would be on a ppv. UFC 228 maybe. I'm sure it could go on UFC 227 but that's short training camp.
