I think Yuri Foreman was hurt going in to the Miguel Cotto fight.

I finaly saw the bout. I didn't keep score. I'm a Foreman fan so I did not think I could be 100% unbised. I did think both boxers did a good job. I would not argue with any score.
I'm not taking anything away from Miguel Cotto. He fought a great fight, and deserved the victory. However I don't think Yuri Foreman was 100% going in to the fight.
From watching the fight, I noticed that early on Foreman would for just a second switch his stance. Not long enough to do anything but give his back leg the right leg the one that was hurt a short rest.
Would it have made a diffrence?
I don't think the fight would have ended the same way.
Would Cotto still have won? I don't know that he would have but I can't say for sure. People will point out that Cotto's Jab hurt Foreman. This might say something about Foreman as a boxer however you have to consider two things. The first is that Foreman may have been hurt going in. The pain of the pressure of the back leg could have caused him to go backwards. The other thing is Cotto's jab. As far as I know he leads with his strong hand so his jab is going to be a stronger punch than most jabs with the week hand.
If there was no 7th round injury what would have happened?
I think one way or another the fight was going to be stopped. Both Cotto and Foreman were landing both of their faces showed the results. Someone's face was going to swell up enough to cause a stoppage. I think the most likely result by the way the fight was going would have been Cotto tko 11. However it is posible that Foreman was not 100% going in. He may have been able to avoid some of those punches and landed more of his own.
Cotto deserves a big fight as a result and Foreman (after recovery) deserves another shot at a championship.
I would like to see them rematch in the future.

no way, he shouldnt get a re-match, he was losing the fight before he hurt his leg. foreman is nothing special. even in his fight against santos he did nothing special. santos was inactive for a while and basically lost the fight himself. any one in the 154 division beat foreman. maybe even spinks

 Even in perfect condition, little Yuri never stood a chance against real fighters. Perhaps he'd fair better competing in Russia. :yep

I'd have to watch it again but I wonder if a damaged leg was why he took those early Cotto jabs so poorly.

I read that AFTER ehe hurt his knee at 15 he never had surgery to correct it because lack of insuarance. Now he has a full functional knee. He may come back even better than before.

    Good for him.

Watching the fight again. His being off balance after those shots was CLEARLY because of his leg. Just watch the fight again and watch the right knee. Pretty obvious.

The slip in Round 4 too. All because of that right knee.
