Yeah, I have actually watched the fight now and it was a CLEAR Carl Froch win, even the ShowTime team, I believe Antonio Tarver had Froch ahead by 3 rounds going into the last round. Its not even up for discussion. I was interested in why people were saying this before but now I've seen the fight I can tell people are just talking ****.
**** sakes it was close through the middle rounds, Froch took command and dominated the final stretch.
Froch didn't just fought Johnson. He fought Tarver, Jones and the US-boxingfans...............Froch, away from home, fatigue and under lot of pressure, showed how a true champion prevails in a tough, tough fight.....Respect big time....
Johnson was in the fight in the beginning but after Froch took over, even when Johnson landed a good right Froch came back with hard combos. You hardly see Johnson stop coming foward in his prior fights, but Froch had him thinking twice at times and breathing hard....
:good People do seem to quickly forget how worried Froch's people were for the 1st 4 Rds or so, as Froch was taking plenty. Or that GJ walked him down for most of the fight. Listen carefully also to the post-fight ring inteview of GJ. He said that most of Froch's punches/combos landed on his gloves. And that he knew the judges would still score that as if they landed on his head, [which they shouldn't.] One problem is that GJ did fade the last couple of rds, and that stays in people's minds. This fight was somewhat similar to Maidana v Morales. Sorry, not trying to cause a ruckus, but a draw IMO is not off the mark, but 117-112 is!
Its all opinions but I personally don't score rounds based on who landed the biggest punch. Johnson was getting outworked round by round IMO.
TBH. when I first watched this fight, early this morning I felt GJ had an edge or atleast a draw (Froch coming strong the last 4 rounds). Rewatching it a few hours ago, I can see why the majority has Froch, it was imo. close but Froch won.
you better go back and watch it again, he was just throwing combos straight forward at Johnson who had a high guard, yes a few got through and even more as the bout went on and Johnson tired but he wasted a lot of shots, he will get beat wide of Ward. And im a froch fan
Not certain of this, see what I said above, or what he said about blocking shots. I think rather that he knows unless he gets a KO, he won't be winning a decision.
I was rooting for Johnson (One of the few true good guys in boxing), and I really wanted him to win. Unfortunately, last night was not his night. Froch simply the better man. Glenn Johnson has nothing to be ashamed about. He gave it his all, but just came up short.
