I thought Larry Merchant retired, yet I have seen him at the last two fight?

HBO should put Larry Merchant back on with the main HBO commentators.

He asks the questions that others wouldn't dare, and he shares vital information with the public.

 

Is that why he went to shotime?Here I was thinking he went to shotime to avoid pacquiao.Silly me.

 

I like him. He asked pointed questions that the Grey's avoid. He's controversial
but combative-good for him
I remember he riled Lennox so much that he stole the Mic from Larry
He's a bad dude that needs respect and never backs down.

 

I like his interviewing talents, but his analysis of boxing & boxers leaves much to be desired. He also thinks he knows more about boxing than people who actually boxed like Foreman & RJJ. That get annoying. He also comes off as being obnoxious. I'm glad he is off HBO.

 

I like Larry Merchant, he tells it like it is......................

 

He's a drunk old man, who's gone down hill rapidly, but, ****, he's the most entertaining commentator. Him, lampley and foreman, or Lewis, were epic broadcasts. Best unintentional comedy ever.

 

He's semi-retired. He works when he feels like it.

I don't know if his losing it but after the donaire fight it took him 2 questions before he realised the guy was speaking South African instead of English

 

Yeah, that was pretty funny. I thought, Larry, I didn't understand a word the guy just said, did you? When Vetyeka answered the second question, Larry kind of went "huh?" Hilarious. Then the manager said, "what he said to the first question was..." Obviously, Larry didn't want to insult Vetyeka, thinking he may have been speaking English, so he just kind of acted like he knew what Vetyeka was saying. Then someone said in his earpiece, "hey, Larry, the guy is speaking his native dialect."

It was good for a laugh.

 

Merchant is the undisputed KING of boxing broadcasters.He could give a flying fukk what other people want.He is no shill,unlike the Showtime broadcasters.:thumbsup

 

He's clearly only doing part-time with these other channels. His job with HBO wasn't only to commentate, he had to attend meetings..etc and is clearly too old for it which is why he retired.
