I thought Sergio fought a very smart fight.

Martinez took an age to get started and credit has to go to Macklin who although is now 0-2 in world title fights he has shown that he is indeed a threat to other fighter in the division. Last night he showed parts to his game that i didnt think he had and a lot of other people didnt think he had, definately a top10 world rated middleweight.

Sturm ain't all that. Macklin, barker and Murray are all euro level, one of them might pinch a trinket belt along the way.......

It wasn't a great performance. Sergio just isn't as effective leading the fight, but he did what he needed to do. I never had him in any real danger of losing the fight.

Yeah, I was impressed with Martinez. He was beating the **** out of Macklin for the last 3 rounds, and the finish couldn't have been any more emphatic.

It not really that weak though, the talent is there, its getting everyone to fight. Macklin has already arguably beaten one champion and done better than expected against another one and thus is far more proven than other more talented fighters in the division who have not landed the big fights yet.

Really? Wow, well for once Manny got it right. I watch fights with the sound off so I didn't hear him.

When I said the fight went pretty much as planned. I mean he broke Macklin down and nearly had him out by the 10th. The 10th is the round that Sergio had called. Macklin fought a very tight defensive fight from round one but those sneaky left hands and those straight right hands of Sergio were getting through the tight defense. Also, as planned meant that Sergio knew Macklin had had stamina issues in the past so he circled him and made Macklin move for 10 rounds. Knowing that that movement and steady pressure would wear the fighter out. Like I said a very smart fight.
