I thought SKY were harsh tonight with Craig McEwan

I know it was a flat performance from Craig compared to the Vera fight for instance(I feel the reason for this is Craig trying to get down to light middle is weakening him) but SKY seem to HATE him.

I mean, fighters have off nights, it happens all the time, but its what you do in the big fights that matters. Remember a few years ago John Murray fough a jorneyman superbantamweight from Mexico, John Rawling and Duke McKenzie BOTH had Murray losing that fight, & I personally thought Murray lost to Al Hamidi, but put Murray in against the likes of Lee McAllister & lee Meager & he shines (maybe Murray just hates guys with the name Lee:think)

Also, guys like Darnell Boone are tagged as journeymen when they lose ten fights but anyone who knows boxing knows that defeats dont always tell the true story about how good a fighter is, & you could clearly see that Boone had talent, & was a lot better than the journeymen you will see plying their trade in the british isles. Although he was quite negative at times, Boone didnt have the mentality that he was just there for the paycheque. He didnt come out with the earmuffs on(as Teddy Atlas likes to say) & come out specifically to last the distance so he can fight again next week. Just ask John O'Donnell what it was like fighting a journeyan over in the states!

I was reading some reports about Boone before he boxed McEwan, & I knew that it would be a good test for Craig when I read that Darnell had floored & hurt Andre Ward, he also had Anthony Thomson hurt, & drew with Simon, who was unbeaten at the time and lost close decisions to well respected fighters too.

So Im just happy Craig McEwan got the W, although theres NO way it should have been a split decision:-( Andy Lee got nowhere NEAR the pounding that Skys 'experts' enjoyed dishing out to the scotsman. But SKY were unimpressed with Andy Lee's performance too in his last fight in Germany, that doesnt mean Andy Lee's done either.

Both fighters I predict will come back well.

Ian Darke in particular was a nasty piece of work, he took great pleasure in running down the scot at every opportunity, & most of the abuse he was dishing out was completely unwarranted. Why should McEwan listen to some fat football guy who has never had a fight in his life, inside the ring or out:bbb
I wish Reg Gutteridge was still around commentating, he was the real deal, & never took cheap shots at fighters just cos he didnt like them.

I mentioned the weight issue earlier in my post, about how Craig didnt look his normal freeflowing self because Craigs trying to boil down to light middle, look what happened when John Duddy did the same thing in his last fight, boil down to light-middle. He was a shadow of the all action slugger he was at middleweight. Sure John has always been easy to hit, but he appeared very weak in his last fight, it wasnt the real John Duddy in there that night IMO due to weight issues.
Is Craig making the same mistake? Hope not.

    Dunky, you're reaching mate.

Craig just doesn't seem to have that special spark that seperates normal fighter from true worldclass. Its no blackmark, he can still make a bit of money for himself and will be a good test for most boxers in and around that weight category, but he's never gonna be high echelon material.

I've said it from the start.

Unfortunately in this McEwan isnt that good because hes from Scotland.

As you will be well aware (being from Scotland) the scots have that loser mentality dont they, look at that Scot **** at wimbledon, completely choked. I don't think they have the intelligence or dedication to get to the top. They need to look how the English do things and they would acheive more.

I'm sure one day you will have a good sportsman, but this man isnt it.

Watt is so bad, I dont even waste my time speaking about him anymore. I have never been a fan of the man. Great fighter, but utter ***** of a commentator.
Him screaming "Pac shouldnt be celebrating" after he knocked out Hatton sums him up. If it had been the other way round & pac had been lying on the canvas, Watt would have probably jumped into the ring & gave Pac a few kicks in the head just to make sure he stayed down longer.

err, i dont know if you have noticed but Craig is still actually unbeaten, & still on course to be a scottish boxing legend.

Feel free to goad me people if Craig actually loses, but arent you all jumping the gun bit here?
& as for Murray, I am on record as saying he wouldnt win Wimbledon anyway this year.
Its all in the archive folks, treat yourselves & check out my posts:deal

How can a man be goaded when hes in the right? Only in the mad world of ESB...
If this continues Im off to boxrec.

    ahh just kidding:D

If thats how you feel Antcull my man then thats how you feel, its all about opinions at the end of the day.

Just let me say this. If Craig McEwan proves you wrong, will you be man enough to admit that you were wrong about Craig & give him his respect?

I couldnt give a **** about myself, Im just a fan. However, it would be nice of you to give Craig his respect when he wins a world title. Do we have a deal?

I can't debate boxing with you Dunk, not when there's a Scottish boxer involved, I'm not even gonna try...................it doesn't necessarily mean your opinion is the right one, it just means even if I'm right it would be a futile exercise on my part because you wouldn't see any reason in my argument;)

This is Hilarius. Because Henman was great wasn't he? Whats your opinion on sir Alex Ferguson? Does he have this "loser mentality" you speak about?
