It was actually pretty obvious. I quote myself: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...y-joshua-who-wins.697685/page-2#post-22115425 https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...ght-is-set-for-march-11.696777/#post-22086873
Here's a little ditty I wrote a few years back. The Okolipus is slithering, sliding my digits into every orifice. Tentacles greased up, I'll turn you into my willing whorifice. Penetrating all three inputs, elbow deep into your keister. Groper of the Hackney Marshes, the G. O. A . T. Fister. Leisure Suit Larry, don't just play at grab ass and stink finger. Okolipus is dropping tetrodotoxin when I slip into that sphincter. I call myself The Sauce, but a right cross will knock my **** loose. When my glass jaw is finally exposed, they'll be calling me The Ass Juice.
I'm not defending Okolie or taking anything away from CBS (beating Okolie was certainly a top 3 cruiser win since Usyk became undisputed, along with Briedis beating Dorticos and Opetaia beating Briedis) but perhaps Okolie was even glassier than usual due to the enormous weight cut at 30 (he fought weighing 210 lbs vs a journeyman 6 years ago) and his 12 rounder vs Light 2 months ago. Hopefully he'll be even tighter at the weight in the rematch and even more anxious about being hit, with no A-side advantage as a disgraced and tedious former champion.
Well, yeah, when you are a massive super-heavy pretending to be a cruiser, sure it causes you some problems. But what I tried to explain is that THE REASON he is still at cruiser is because he packs glass in the first place.
This is actually part of the reason why I picked CBS to beat him, CBS has a sneaky left hook/uppercut. Like the one that obliterated him here. This content is protected
The reason octopuses hold is because they're scared of getting hit Don't possess the defensive skills to avoid getting hit Know they can't take a pop on the whiskers Okolie is the GOAT octopus. And he doesn't just octopus you he does everything in his power to prevent you from even throwing punches
You have to give it to him that his patented grabngrab style, where he would seek to grab first, protected him for years.
It did. It's the same with Ward. Sure he was more skillful than Okolie but his octopus grabbing, ducking below waist level, and various other illegal tactics he employed wasn't just designed to inflict physical harm on his opponents and demoralize them it was primarily to protect that chin.
Before these guys disgraced boxing with these shameful tactics, John Ruiz did the same to an even more inglorious extent. And although he was also using these illegal tactics to make up for his limited boxing ability, it's no accident that he started pulling this BS after getting starched by David Tua in 19 seconds.
Yes I remember. Excessive holding is illegal. Cowardly. And it hurts the sport and ruins the fight as a spectacle for the fans because it sucks all the life and excitement out of it. Refs need to really clamp down on it and force these octobears to actually learn real defensive skills to avoid getting hit as opposed to cheating. Okolie vs CBS was either the first world title fight ever staged in Bournemouth or the first in many many decades if not and 15,000 people forked out for tickets to watch that horror show. CBS is known for being in action packed exciting fights but how can you entertain the fans and be involved in exciting fights if you're being wrapped up and hugged to death by a giant octobear all night?
