Margarito is junior middleweight fighting at welter or even a middleweight. But that wasn't the problem people forgot only two fighters really posed serious problems to Cotto so far in his career and that is Torres and Margarito but Torres was less experienced in championship fights than Margarito. Let not forget Mosley and Judah or big step ups but people all forget Santos,Clottey,Cintron, and Williams are not bad fighters at all. But people got stuck on Mosley and Judah and there marquee names but lets not forget Margarito has a good resume of fighters on his list also. And those fights all his trials prepared him for this moment losing to Williams was blessing in disguised and fighting clottey prepared him how to fight a boxer and that was the difference.

Margarito probably did not outweigh Cotto by much on that night. Cotto probably comes in the ring around 157-160 and Margarito round 160-163.

I don't know if they announced the unofficial ring weights on Saturday. Against Santos, Margarito weighed in at 154 and came in the ring at 160

iF MARGARITO WAS MEANT TO BE A MIDDLEWEIGHT THEN HE WOULD BE A MIDDLEWEIGHT. THE POINT OF WEIGHT CLASSES IS TO FIT IN WERE YOU ARE AT YOUR BEST. MARGARITO LOOKS LIKE HE HAS A SMALL SKELETAL BUILT. COTTO IS A SMALL WELTER WHICH IS HIS DISADVANTAGE AND NOT MARGARITOS PROBLEM.
