The Hatton performance wasn't great, no, but anyone who knows about Rhodes is aware of how tricky he is. Excellent performance that is very rare for a 20 year old.

No that wasn't an excellent performance just like the Hatton fight wasn't excellent.

He is the reason Rhodes stayed around so long, he does not box does not have a gameplan, has over rated power at 154, a questionable chin, lackluster if improving defense, and that was all on display again last night.

I thought so too but Canelo is improving on every fight, I still have my doubts but I will give credit where credit is due. At 154lbs the only one that might be a good fight for Canelo and a good challenge will be Paul Williams. Cotto and Margarito wont fight Canelo because of Scumbag Arum. Canelo/Dzinzurik is also a great match up and Canelo/Angulo.

 

Alavrez fought much better in this fight than he did against Hatton so I think comparisons are unfair.

He clearly took train more seriously- good sparring partner in GGG, secluded up in big bear, this time he even made weight- I think the Hatton fight may have been a bit of an eye opener that he wasn't as good as people like Oscar was saying.
