Rhodes was a solid fighter. Alvarez is actually good.

Both HBO fights were very poor. It is a shame. Nothing exciting about HBO matchmaking. How the **** did these chaps deserve to be on HBO?

I think that only Wladimir KlitschKO can save HBO at this point.

It was nothing more than a lucky guess on your part. You said you had not actually seen any of his fights before. Canelo should also be given credit for such an effective performance. Everybody other than deluded Brits knew Canelo was out of his league, but Rhodes was still the best fighter Canelo has faced.

Rhodes isn't a great Boxer, but he's not a bad Boxer either. I think Rhodes froze a bit on the night, which is why you probably have a worse perception of him, than you probably would have if you'd seen him more.

This is how I saw it...

Rhodes didn't seem to believe in himself enough. You could tell Rhodes was reluctant to let it all hang out, so he got caught in two minds, which reduced him to waiting too long, thinking too much.

Rhodes couldn't, or wouldn't pull the trigger when Alvarez got close to him, and he wouldn't press him when he backed Alvarez up.

If you watch, when Alvarez came foward, he'd step up to the pocket, try to get Rhodes to throw something out there so he could slip inside it, or counter over it, and given that Rhodes pushes the jab, commits to it too much, he was able to do that, what Rhodes should of done in this situation, was not been so tentative and put things out there that have counter me written all over them, he should of made his mind up and threw with conviction, then used his speed to get off first, cause whilst Alvarez was stepping up to mid range, he rarely moved his head (and so was there, in range to be hit), he only tended to move his head when he was trying to slip to set up a counter.

When Rhodes backed Alvarez up, he should of being putting the pressure on, but because he was fighting so apprehensively, he refused to press the gap and keep pressing, cause he was fearful of the counter, so he would step up like he was gonna press Alvarez, but then leave just enough space for himself to counter punch any potential attacks by Alvarez, he would essentially slip into his counter punchers mentality instead of pressing the fight, leaving that little space between himself and the opponent and not pressing it enough, which gave Alvarez just enough time to move and fight at the pace he was comfortable with.

True, but credit to ALVAREZ for not allowing him to do anything.. He was dominating him from beginning to end, counter punching stalking style that was kind of weird to see. He would be in a counter punching stance ready to shoot, and whenever he saw an opening or Rhodes would open up BODY SHOT! Timed shots to the head, COMBOS!.....

He did not let rhodes do anything, it was masteful and he fought like he was the experienced man in there.

He completely dominated a TOP 10 LMW (Just like a real champ) never gave the challenger a chance... Legitimately the CHAMP of the world...

I can't wait to see CANELO ANGULO next.

It was a step up for Canelo in what was supposed to be evenly matched. Wtf you want, Canelo vs Martinez next? Kids barely turning 21 and hes becoming a force in a mans game. Much, much.improved

No, Brits have pride in their fighters and really love the sport of boxing they are true fans more then I can say about others, the people that hyped this fight up so much was golden boy promotions from the USA and did a great job promoting it just goes to show you bought into it so dont blam the brits because you bought into the hype oh by the way I am an american.
