LOL. His left foot isn't even on the canvas. It's traveling out to the left as the punch is delivered. Not sure how one can "sit down" on a left hook when your left foot is in mid-air, as the power is driven from your left leg and hips. Floyd rarely commits to any punches. He is too concerned with avoiding being hit. He even throws his pull counter right as an arm punch now.
how can we be on a boxing forum and people dont know what a check hook is...especially the OP. its pathetic donaire didnt throw a check hook at montiel. a check hook is simply a hook thrown at a boxer lunging forward, as its thrown the left foot pivots and the right foot rotates away from the fighter coming forward.
As the opponent lunges in, the boxer should throw the hook and pivot on his left foot and swing his right foot 180 degrees around. If executed correctly, the aggressive boxer will lunge in and sail harmlessly past his opponent like a bull missing a matador.
Another name for a check hook is called a PIVOT hook. You're supposed to pivot your foot anyways, but instead of doing it to generate power, you're doing it to get out the way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtH9G_Fo8j4&feature=player_detailpage#t=325s
You can train for 5 years and not be able to use a proper check hook. What made you think you could just go out and start using punches like that easily? atsch
Check hook not cross dressing. Oh and that was a counter left hook not a check left hook. If it was a check left hook he would not have been left standing right in front of the man.
