Actually, Hatton was mandatory to face Tsyzu. That's how he got a p4p rating and world wide recognition. You know, the way most do it. Junior was too busy asking Hatton for a fight to get himself into such a position.
But Witter isn't the best. Lazcano is a warm-up and Witter has a madatory, so a Witter bout couldn't have been next for Hatton. Is Malignaggi better than Witter? Yes. After Malignaggi, Hatton has two more fights with HBO. A possible rematch with Mayweather and a mega fight with De La Hoya. They are both harder fights for Hatton than Witter is I understand the "best should fight the best" logic, but Witter isn't the best out there for Hatton. I do too. However, like I said, Witter isn't the best and there are guys who would make more money for Hatton, HBO and GBP. A fight with Witter makes no sense for anyone apart from Witter and his 9 fans.
I might be wrong but I think The Ring + others have Witter at #2, so I'd say a majority of people disagree with your view.
True, but The Ring rates on accomplishments rather than talent. I think Malignaggi is better than Witter, but Witter is more proven. The Ring also has Taylor behind Bika, Povetkin behind Valuev, Peterson behind Santa Cruz and a load of other incorrect ratings. They are right to do so, of course, as accomplishments are the only factual thing you can base these lists off, but it doesn't make them right. Taylor is better than Bika, Povektin is better than valuev, Peterson is better than Santa Cruz and Malignaggi is better than Witter.
If that's true it's fair to question their ranking of Hatton at #1 after some of his recent performances.
Thats the big thing for me. A lot of posters are just anti-Hatton and Witter is just the tool they use to have pop at him. If it wasn't for Hatton Witter wouldn't even get a look in around here.
