I wanna believe but lets face it Cotto went...

Did you not notice how Cotto was beating Pacquiao in a boxing match early on? He only got rocked by wild punches when it became a pissing match and started going blow for blow. Both guys took the gamble, tried to get the other guy outta there by drawing a line in the sand and Cotto lost that battle, it happens. I honestly picked Pacquiao to beat Cotto based on quick hands winning the exchanges but by no means is Cotto some sort of hype job.

 

Cotto isn't damaged goods...He's never been elite. A Bob Arum creation.

 

Please, Cotto would've cruise vs clottey if it wasn't for that headbutt. easy night
but he could not see those right hands and still beat him.

 

Floyd picks his fight very carefully, he knows he will win or he would never have taken the fight.

 

I also think Clottey is a little underrated too. No shame in having a tough fight with him. He has a very defensive style and it's hard to land anything good on him so you have to resort to throwing anything and everything at him to entice him to fight, which leaves you open for counters.

 

Clottey would UD Floyd. Floyd wouldn't get one shot past his guard, too weak.

 

i think cotto is a good fighter, 2nd best at his weight class only behind canelo. but he has taking a beating a few times in his career win or lose.i remember his 140 days fights with corley and torres. those were tough fights for him, but i gave him a pass thinking those guys were still pretty good back then and i felt it was time for him to move up in weight.he had out grown the jr ww limit, but then at 147 he had even harder fights against guys like judah, mosley, margarito, clottey and pacman. punishment after punishment and pacman was the last to give it to him and he gave it to him pretty good. but despite all that he still is the 2nd best to me at jr mw some might have him at number 1, i know the books do. he's also 3rd biggest draw in boxing just behind money may and pacman. he's a champ and so we have a fight, mayweather tko 9.

His great weapon (jab) took Clottey down in the FIRST round, when a boxer i super fresh and with all their energy! Then, like a champ, wounded and all (check out the gash, it was pretty nasty) He fought his ass off in the last round convincingly. His corner was ****, but he still pulled it.
Margo could be Cyclops but WHO besides Mosley has taken him to the canvas? MargaChaeto is hard to kill period.
New SKILLED trainer. No more unbalanced issues. Footwork is ****? One of the best I know cutting off the ring and fighting while "dancing" in the ring. (last I knew who did it that lovely was Sugar Ray Leonard) If ure not convinced, Lets see how PacMan looked after their fight! and Miguel did that to him in the later rounds AFTER he'd been rocked a few times!
Stamina issues? Went into the later rounds with Mosley, Margo (with CEMENT FISTS) Pacman, Yuri, and Mayorga, Cheato AGAIN...

I agree that this matchup might have something to do with Cotto being the 3rd biggest draw, we all know "Money" likes to cash in, but as a Mayweather critic I respect this matchup and I don't think Floyd's style blows right through him. Cotto gets rocked in the big exchanges but rarely when it's a straight up chess match type of boxing match, I am no expert, just a long time boxing fan so maybe there is something that I am overlooking in the style matchup too by thinking it's going to be competitive.

 

most trainers think the worse thing cotto could do is stand there and try to box with cotto. cotto looked good them 1st 4rds with pacman and i think thats how he should have contintued to fight him.but he landed some shots and started to press the action and got clipped by pacman and it was all over from there, the catchweight did not help him either. he could have used those 2 pounds to take the puncher better or finnishe the fight or what ever, maybe not. but he boxes mayweather and then waits to get buzzed real good and it will be over before he knows it. cotto to me needs use his jab with a hatton/castllio type of style. if he tries to box floyd it might end up looking like mayweather vs gatti all over again.
