Apparently its not stringent enough if guys like Shane Carwin (who was busted in a steriod ring), Chael Sonnen (tested positive for PEDs), Diaz, etc, etc fight there..... Overeem passed his drug test in his fight with Rogers. It was tested by CSAC which is one of the most stringent testing commissions around.
These guys are fighting the best and will lose. Only the odd guy should be winning consistently and those are the guys that should leave us in awe i.e. GSP, Silva, maybe Shogun etc Dominant just means 1 good match, 2 easy defences, 1 good match up, 2 easy defences. Padded like in boxing.
One thing that I think we've seen prooven again and again other the past few years is that fighters with a narrow skill set(Aoki, Lesnar, Mo etc) or a narrow gameplan(Crocop, Chuck, Rampage, Machida, BJ, Alves etc) are never going to be consistant up agenst the best opposition. The problem is that the fighters with the narrow focus often tend to look the most devistaing when things go well for them so they get a ton of hype. Its been the guys like Fedor, GSP, Shogun(sans injuries) etc with a well rounded game that really show consistancey. They often don't look as invinceble on the face of it because there prepaired to enguage in areas they don't dominate but because they can come though such situations and still win they avoid the dodgy fights.
Good post moreorless. I wouldn't say it is an exact science but the statement stands nevertheless. However there have been one dimensional and dominant fighters. It is simply that one dimension is so good i.e. Ortiz back in the day, Liddell after him etc
Yes, let's ignore the fact that Carwin's drugs bust was from 2006 and he has noticeably slimmed down whilst also adding body fat since then.
Slimmed down? Carwin was 265 for the Brock fight. What was he weighing in at before? Either way the accusations have not been dispelled by Carwin. If he was on them then he's a cheat. Point blank point simple.
