I want AJ to lose ....

As others have said, most casuals, certainly the ones i talk to, know that Fury is the real champion.

I also don't get the point of wanting a fighter to lose due to the people around said fighter or that particular fighters fans. Why care so much about the acts or opinions of the circus around a fighter?

The Hide Lewis comparison is a good one, but they will acclaim Femi the heavyweight champion of the world, just as they did with Haye. Fact is Martin is a fraud and a bum and Fury is champion. I hope Fury calls out these fraudster and Sky.

 

Fair point well made. I don't think I agree. I think AJ needs the strap to make the jump from prospect to contender in the public's eyes, and that the fight won't be quite the same without him being seen as fully legit.

Then again, I'm splitting hairs. I think we both agree that AJ needs to be marketed as legit against Fury. Unless I miss my guess, it's the marketing that you don't like, not the idea of AJ collecting the IBF strap.

It's not his fault that he has a decent chance of getting it so early in his career - not his fault that the quality isn't that great right now. If he's good enough to beat the guy that holds the strap then fair play to him - what else can he do? Just imagine the response on here if AJ refused to fight for the belt because the champ isn't good enough to face him!!!

Let AJ get the belt if he can. Then let's hold our nose and accept the marketing that will get him and Tyson a HUGE payday after that.

 

Don't like AJ but want him to win. If he gets the IBF belt it brings a huge payday to British boxing and opens up other lucrative UK fights. Don't think they'll rush for the Tyson fight and will want to milk him dry before a proper fight. AJ winning the title will bring more viewers and more money to British boxing and that can only be a good thing.

 

Fury beats scumbag Joshua all-day long, i can see Fury frustrating the bum and KO'ing him when he wants.

Audley Harrison might never have reached the heights we expected as a professional but if it wasn't for his Olympic Gold medal then the amateur set up might never have been as successful since because the funding wouldn't have been put in place.

 

Very good point David, Audley's success enabled future funding for amateur boxing. James Degale, Tony Jeffries, David Price, Luke Campbell, Fred Evans, Big Joshua and Anthony Ogogo were all benefits of the funding. I am not 100% sure about Amir Khan, I would imagine he was funded.

 

Fury has to first get through a rematch with Wlad before thinking about Joshua. Would not rule WK out yet.

 

A belt is a belt, they all mean pretty much nothing these days anyway, its pathetic for you to wish someone to lose for such a petty reason as this, all promoters and broadcasters do the same thing, its just selling an extra few tickets that's all.
