Pac was leading in the cards after knocking down Marquez. Marquez was about to go down. Then came the KO. Pacquiao seems to be physically well and he wants another fight. Let's give to him. I suppose Marquez will not refuse a much bigger purse before he retires.
I dont want to see a 5th fight yes it would be great but seriously after 4 fight's now we have seen everything we need to see we have seen a draw we have seen pacquaio win and we have seen him lose and we have seen a knockout and finally marquez get a win. In my eye's and most people's it's 2-1-1 for marquez and to think marquez only got 6 mil for the fight where pacquiao got 20+ and people saying marquez don't do numbers bob arum recently said most of the ppv numbers will be from mexico so give me a good enough reason why we should see a 5th fight and what will it prove ?
People are just not going to get it until Pac is beaten 10 times in a row..... he is not going to beat Marquez at this stage, he has declined too much. I picked Marquez to UD him this fight, and it will only get worse from here on out. Yes, the knockdown woke him up a bit.... and he closed some distance between him and Marquez, but it only took two rounds for JMM to go from knocking him down, to knocking him out. The 1st Pac KD was not a flash KD either, that was a lights out knockdown.... and it also shows me his punch resistance is eroding, and between the KO punch, the headbutt on the ground, and his next harsh training camp, if they meet again it will only be worse. Pac will not beat Marquez ever again (imo) I would love love love if he proved me wrong, but the risk he faces doing so is not worth it given his chances.... Pac has had an amazing career, he should fight some farewell fights, maybe fight Rios now, and then move onto the next chapter of his life. He is really asking for some health issues if he keeps this up for much longer. The dude has had a long career, and his sparring during his training camps are needlessly hard.... he should stop sooner rather then later. History repeats itself though. Fans always keep calling for more from fighters, and the fighters from themselves.... then afterwards when that fighter is slurring his words people talk about how the fighter should have just stopped when it was clear they should have. The time is now for Pac.... he has been on a steady decline since the Margarito fight, and now has been KO'd cold, with a follow up freefalling headbutt shot to the ground. Take some farewell fights, go out with the crowd chanting his name once more and focus on his new life. Hes done all anyone could dream in boxing. People that overstay soon find boxing taking more from them then they ever got from it.
If JMM doesn't ride off into the sunset and retire....this fight will be made. Especially if this fight does over 1 million in PPV buys. The 5th fight would certainly do incredible numbers given how great this one was. Fight of the Year, Round of the year...KO of the year. That's going to help sell this fight in 2013 for sure. I think PAC just needs a tune up with someone like Rios or Alexander. PAC was doing extremely well before he got put to bed...busted Juan up really bad...broke his nose and landing his left hand all night long. There's definitely reason enough to see this fight again.
Pretty much. If the rivalry dies after this KO I wouldn't be disapointed. It was an incredible rivalry that needed an ending like this if it is to end. Juan got redemption which couldn't have happened to a better guy. He's worked hard to get to this level and to come back from being pummeled in the round before and dropped to score a Knock out like that was incredible. Major props.....But I'd still like to see the 5th fight after seeing how amazing this last meeting was.
I agree....nice tune up's for sure. We don't really know how that KO has affected PAC. He could bounce back like Duran after his KO loss to Hearns...or we could see something like Ricky Hatton after PAC destroyed him....Or even how Roy has struggled along for the last 8 or 9 years after Tarver knocked him out cold.
This series is over. JMM has put his own greatness on hold for too long now to go another rd w/Pacquaio.
I wouldn't blame Juan for rejecting another fight with PAC. He's gone through hell trying to get a win over that man. To finally get it, in that fashion has got to be like "icing on the cake". But of course the money and accolades will make it tempting for Juan to do it one more time. It's a dangerous fight for Juan...he was losing that 4th fight and took a major beating the round before scoring the game changer...he'll have to be compensated very nicely to give this another go with PAC and I think Manny will oblige his financial requirement. And I don't think JMM put his greatness on hold by fighting Manny. It's helped solidify his greatness and also helped secure his financial future. What makes sense for Juan is building his empire and leaving a legacy that will be remembered. he's done both already....but he can always fatten his pockets a little more since he's still operating at the sports highest levels.
I agree, except on the part of the farewell fights. That will bring him back to face a JMM or even Floyd, he won't go out if he does a farewell fight(s) because of what you just pointed out.
Not right away though . a brutal knockout like that can be very discouraging . I say avenge that robbery against Bradley, gain some confidence ,and then fight Marquez for the 5th time . I think Roach will have an answer for that counter right in the next fight since he knows Marquez will be looking for it all night . BTW I know floyd is thanking the angels ,heavens, satan, and god himself that he has a reason not to fight Pac . I admire floyds skill so much , that it pains me to say that hes pretty much always been a coward when it comes to risky fights . Mark my words,it might be a year from now or 2 years from now . But Floyd Mayweather is going to lose his 0 very soon . I have that gut feeling , someone is going to shock us soon and end his undefeated record .
