Yeah there's one local college radio station around that actually plays indie music an stuff. I don't mind club anthems, or whatever you wanna call this techno/rap **** on the radio. I like going to the club, but I don't really feel the need to listen to it during a weekday in the morning while I'm driving to work. Play some god damn normal music that's not like "YEAHHH WE IN THE CLUBB, GET DRUNK !@!@." **** sake.
nucka i'm not trying to find new songs, mostly just albums and artists. and trolling. and last fm serves all those needs. their related artists feature ftw. I appreciate pandora for what it is, but i just don't need it. i have google blogsearch and a good handle on boolean operators for actual music finding.
Yeah...I didn't mean the mallcore ****. I too prefer vintage Sodom or Testament at the end of the day. There are, however, some young bloods kicking it old-school and doing it right. You should really check out Savage Messiah and Hateform at the very least. Evile is decent, too.
The first two i've heard. Evile just seems kinda Slayer cloney to me. Like I said, most. I can't really support revival movements in the first place, they never pan out to anything truly awesome for the most part. Municipal Waste makes me LOL, but i don't get much out of em beyond that. As far as metal goes i'll stick to my OSDM, my 2nd wave black, and spatters of doom and traditional in between with the odd hipster garbage(Boris) in between. I guess i just feel pretty set as far as metal goes, there hasn't been much post 2000 that has even been interesting to me, beyond a few death metal standouts.
I'm actually in the same boat. My heavier leanings have waned with age, which I always insisted wouldn't happen. :yep Most of the "new" stuff that I seek out now is actually like 60's British psychedelic rock, obscure early prog, or guitar-centric Latin folk. While very cool, most of it is 0/10 on the brutality scale.
I don't even know anymore man. My last.fm looks like a psycho's doing. I'm not really sure what I like nowadays. It is really hard to keep your more extreme tastes going. or at least consistently http://www.last.fm/user/moontowereos Like, i'll still spin gorguts/immo/suffo/morbid angel/bathory.... But i find it really hard to keep listening. I still love the music for the quality of composition, but the aesthetic just aint with me anymore.sad these days its been shoegaze, hip hop(instrumental and otherwise), ambient, and off the wall experimental **** for me.
Capice. :nod The cool thing about Pandora, for me anyway, is that I've got so many stations built up over the years now (and each of them tweaked like a meth-lab-rat) that I just leave it on QuickMix and get sequences the likes of: Catherine Wheel Celtic Frost Jorge Drexler Black Flag Booker T & The MGs Porcupine Tree Obituary Echo & The Bunnymen ..and it somehow all flows right (or maybe it's just me). Plus, it streams with crystal clarity in 5.1 to my Android device. Free (and low-RAM) apps ftw!
maaaaan catherine wheel is my ****. PT too, depending on the album . and of course you can always depend on tom g. warrior to blast your face off(cold lake aside). And obituary, man i love me some john tardy. ib i dare say you and i may have more similar music taste than anyone on esb.
You've just gotta smile and hang out with intelligent people. Ever been to one of Rob's live shows (assuming you missed out on CW, like me)? He doesn't have the vocal range of his cousin Bruce, but he's a better songwriter. :good
