hes been knocked down cleanly once against gonzales. The rest are off balance, slips, or elbows. Hes last knock down you saw against solido you saw his own left hook brought him down. Dont talk crap bro
I'm jocking more or less here because truth is more of the KD were off balance. Still have to see him against tougher competition to be sure. I haven't read a lot about his sparing sessions. For example I knew that Ortiz has been hurt a lot of times in sparing so I wasn't that surprised by the Maidana fight.
Not true at all. Ruiz was only praised for his beard by Haye fans after he put in a gutsy effort. The truth is that Ruiz spent his entire career avoiding big punchers after his disaster against Tua. In fact, the first mariginally big puncher that he faced in the decade after the loss to Tua was old Andrew Golota? Remember what happened? Golota put him on the deck twice. Ruiz never had a good chin.
its true that sometimes people get accused of having a weak chin when simply the timing and the accuracy of the shot they took was perfect. and if its against a poor opponent, you still can not rule out fluke/coincidence, for that one second his fist was in the right place and his opponents jaw was not, sometimes it happens. sometimes it comes from poor movement and a poor defence and not tucking your chin in. the problem is some fighters get caught more than others. i think big prospects, such as khan and gamboa, have a lot of pressure on them to perform so the always attack and leave themselves open for a big shot now and again. aggressors are always going to get caught. maybe they just need to fight better tactics
Although I do think Khans chin is questionable you make some pretty good points here namely when and how people get hit. Graham and Norris had never been kod before they met Jackson and Drayton only once early in his career. Yes Jackson was a vicious puncher but he also caught them on a sweet spot. Lewis was caught perfect by both Rahman and McCall and many at the time questioned Lennoxs chin which was completely unjustified. Those two punches would have stopped a musk ox. If Lewis had a bad chin, there is no way he would have been able to trade with Vitali the way he did or even Briggs and Holyfield for that matter. Anybody can be knocked cold or dropped for many different reasons. Fighters like Hatton, Miranda, Mayorga and Enzo do not necessarily have bad chins but rather their brains are almost scrambled in a permanent state of concussion from being in so many wars. The brain is not meant to be bounced around the head like that on a continuous basis. Its the same reason why fighters have died after a fight and some left in a semi vegetative state.
That sums it up to me, some guys shout out 'GLASS JAW' the second a guy gets ko'ed but you have to look at it deeper. Khan generally has a punch resistance problem, maybe it is the amatuer style or the sense of invincibilty from the '0' or lack of muscle on the neck. To me he seems to go lala when he gets hit in the temple, Limond, Gomez and Prescott all hurt him first there and not the chin. At the end of the day, this is boxing: you get hit and get hit a lot, sooner or later one is going to get through and do some damage!
The only problem with Khan is that he got wobbled by a jab. The other punches were very vicious shots and no shame in going down from them but that jab that wobbled him was pretty weak.
I was referring to Abraham and Bute. Pavlik is the "heavy handed" guy in that post. And, when the **** did I ever care if I'm off topic?
But since then Khan has been hit with harder punches then that jab so either that was particularly unfortunate or his chin has improved.
Khan is a bad example. You are apparently ignorant of the fact that his glass jaw has been getting exposed since the amateurs, like THIS: [yt]8qBRAmjDXWU[/yt] Then, you have his history of being intentionally matched with carefully-picked light-hitting fighters until he got starched by Prescott - who hasn't had a KO over a live body since! Oh, and then, Khan went right back to facing guys with low KO percentages. No suprise there. Maidana is gonna annihilate him.
