No Brother........You thought you'd be a smart arse & drop the old "Its a British thing" into the argument. If I did ramble on a bit I apologise but basically the top american fighters have'nt got much likeability or ticket selling power when compared to the Cotto's , Calzaghe's & Hattons of this world...........period , as you americans say..:good
Both fighters personalities are exaggerated to mask their sometimes (often) negative fighting styles and sell the fight. It's all panto.
Controversy isn't what sells Mayweather to the people. He's been the same arrogant dickhead for as long as I can remember and that goes back to when he couldn't draw flies to ****. It wasn't selling then. What he does have going for him is that people believe he is the best. They want to watch him because they think they're watching the absolute pinnacle of the sport.
Maybe not in your materialistic, american, rotten and ignorance mind. I rather fight for 50.000 who are screaming their heart out for me every second of the fight and love me like they love their favorite football team and make 3 milion dollar. Then fight for 10.000 rich guys, who even don't really like boxing and probably never heard of me before i fought Oscar , and make 30 milion.
LOL! You know this isn't true. You would take that 3 million any day over a lousy 50 grand and fickle fans who "love" you one minute and hate you the next.
Boxing does not require nice guys. The baddest mother****ers to ever lace up gloves are also some of the most popular. But guys like Tyson were actually funny, charismatic while thoroughly ****ed up individuals. Thats why people loved him. Floyd on the other hand is an immature, stuttering little child who has recently invented a new gangsta persona and reckons he fought his way outta the ghetto. He acts like a pathetic 6 year old, it is unbeliavable this guy is a father in his 30's. He is lacking in any sort of likeable charisma, wit, and most of what he stutters is uncomprehensible garbage. And he says **** like ''no one can ever understand Floyd Mayweather'' to make it seem like he is a really deep, thoughtful individual. Thats why people dont like him
give me a break. if the contracts were in front of you, you'd take 30 million while fighting for 10 000 rich guys over 3 million fighting for 50 000 no questions asked.
Floyd is a prototype. He fits the bill. He is most likely on a collision course, and the way he has portrayed his personality he might not recover from the crash to well. It is just reality, there is a very small chance that he WON'T be beaten eventually. He seems very smart, in the sense, that he protects himself in the ring. He doesn't take unnecessary chances and doesn't seem to give a **** about pleasing the crowd. That alone provides him a small chance at not going out like so many other great fighters. I don't think he is taking Hatton lightly, I think he is taking Hatton like he takes his other opponents. He is always prepared, and will be in December. I think he will eventually be beaten.....by Cotto probably, but not by Hatton.
as capitalist, greedy, selfish etc..... as this sounds, this really is what the fight game is all about. **** pacman would fight delahoya no questions asked if it nets him 15 million or so. hatton will get paid a career purse in this fight, even if he's fighting in a arena packed with 1/4 the amount he'd fill in manchester. at boxings elite level everything revolves around $$$$$$$$$$$. at the end of the day you're the one taking punches, pissing blood, getting bruised, hammered etc.... not the fans, the least you could ask for is to get paid handsomely.
