Come on. They are alot more similar than you might like to think. Not style wise, of course, but in the fact that they are both good fighters who can only go so far due to their styles. Malignaggi, because he lacks the power to ever seriously hurt his opponent, and Hatton because of a face first defense and his chinny chin chin. Both went as far up the ladder as they could go and fell short of the true elite. Hatton was Malignaggi's limit last time, but who knows if they fought again. He has the skills, but whether that translates to a different outcome...well, I doubt it. But, a KO of Malignaggi? I doubt that even more. He has a very good chin. Cotto broke his face and he couldn't KO him...I doubt Hatton would. The stoppage vs Hatton by PM's corner was BS....not that he would have won the fight......but he was in no danger.

i actually agree with everything you have just said there, good post :good

i was just going against the majority of people on here to be controversial! haha

now would probably be a good time for paulie to face ricky but then again that defeat could have a different effect on hatton and he could end up taking it out on paulie.

mcgirt was definately paulies achiles heel and he seems alot better now without him.

If you watch malignaggi from ngoudjo fight through the hatton fight.....he fought in the pocket.....Especially in the Ngoudjo fight, listen to the commentators say, "he stood still way too much".......Under sherif younan as his trainer, this is the most mobile paulie has ever been....He was always more mobile, but now his movement is what baffled diaz, not just his handspeed....Keep in mind, hatton was getting his head snapped back in round 1 in the Paulie fight.....and had a mouse under the eye...

I'm a fan of ricky's.....but looking at Paulie, he was not right in that fight, he hurt his hand in the N'dou 2 fight, and it never fully healed when he faced Hatton....and he had gone away from his style that he rode to the top with...I agree with what paulie had to say "Ricky will take the TKO 11 Malignaggi and run with it"....

I think prime Hatton vs a Healthy Paulie....Hatton probably wins a UD...

Now, I think Paulie takes a comfortable UD....

it's laughable how many people are picking paulie in this fight. hatton dominated paulie winning every round - he beat him to the punch, landing hard shots, and hurt paulie and if it wasn't for all the holding by paulie, hatton would have ko'd him. if the fight happened again hatton wins just as easily, but possibly quicker. it's funny how hatton get's underrarted on here even against fighters he's already beaten and who weren't even competitive when they did fight.

Well, I think it's a combination of Hatton's decline(which is a little exaggerated) and Malignaggi's resurgence(also a little exaggerated). The reason I doubt PM would beat Hatton is because he can't hurt him and dissuade Hatton from bullrushing him. The reason I think it would be a much better fight this time around is because I think Malignaggi has gotten back to what he does best.... I just don't think its good enough for him to beat Hatton's with his style. I can see another controversial decision with the argument being aggression vs "better boxing", etc, etc. To me, bottom line, Hatton close UD.

but paulie isn't hard to hit, he has no power to disuade hatton, hatton is as quick if not quicker on his feet as paulie, and hatton was beating paulie to the punch, there's nothing paulie has got that would beat hatton. it's only hatton's chin that has declined and paulie isn't the fighter to take advantage of that. paulie did nothing in his fight that makes me think he would have a glimmer of hope, he'd be lucky to win a round before being stopped.

The PM who fought Hatton the 1st time was certainly not hard to hit. The version prior to that, and the current version under his new trainer, is much harder to hit than that. He uses his legs more, is far more mobile and takes far better advantage of his foot and hand speed than the version that fought Hatton. Again, personally I don't think it's enough to beat Hatton, because of PM's lack of pop, but it is enough to make it a very difficult fight.

I like both fighters to be honest. Not sure if it would be worth doing it again though. Paulie went into survival mode as soon as he tasted Hattons power.

And none of them are even saying how he would beat Hatton.

All Ive heard so far is....Mcgirt isnt with him anymore and he'll win now,

I'd actually be glad if this fight didn't happen, as these 2 are 2 of the most annoying fighters to watch. Malignaggi because of his antics and clowning and Hatton because of punch/rush/hold/wrestle.

I think there are a few people still tipsy after the new year , Paulie goes 1-1 with a fat lightweight who had lost two out his last three to blown up superfeathers????? Hatton runs him out of the ring in their first fight , paulie barely lands a punch and takes a more onesided loss than when he fought Cotto????

Hatton on the other hand does get taken very easily by Manny , but come on!!! to then think that Paulie would have any chance of winning??? And i dont want to hear that Buddy Mcgirt rubbish , Ricky had a terrible camp with Mayweather Snr for Manny , but I dont hear complaining there.

Face is Hatton has his number , and all Paulie has(even though he is a nice guy) is a mouth and very good self promotion.
