    They both fit.

Isaak is also an amateur boxer, a former Golden Gloves champion and an avid surfer.

D'Arby also developed a love for boxing and won a Golden Gloves championship while in high school.

So does Joseph Anthony B. In 1975, he won the “Golden Gloves Award” in amateur boxing and was asked to join the Canadian Boxing Team for the 1976 Olympic Games.

Heard Isaak had some boxing background, M, but nothing specific. Any details about his boxing BG: where he won the GG's, what weight class, 'n if it was novice or open class?

Honestly, I hear this all the time. I know many Amateur boxers that claimed to be a Golden Glove Champion and some either just fought in the GG or just fought as an Amateur.

I am a Ring announcer and many times they would come up to me and say that they won the GG when in fact they didn't. Several years ago, we had an Amateur boxing meeting and next door someone else had another meeting. When one of the guys from that meeting heard about ours he walked next door. He said, he he won the New Jersey Golden Gloves back in 1963, and beat Larry Hazzard to win the title.

Well, this was just after another former boxer, Richie Gonzalez had passed away and they asked me to give the eulogy. Richie was a 5 time GG Champion and they had his scrap book at the wake and one of the articles had the 1963 final results of the GG. I made a copy of this because I know Larry Hazzard would want to see it. I sent it to Hazzard but saved a copy in my everlast suit case, which I bring to all the Amateur shows. So when this guy said he was the 1963 GG Champion in the 160 pound class, I just went through my suit and pulled out the article and said, do you mean this. He just looked at it and turned and walked away. We never heard from him again.

All too familiar, h. One older stocky guy with a nose bent in 50 different directions claimed he lost to Joe Louis (three years after Louis retired)

Most times, if the guy's harmless -- 'n not an a-hole -- the gym rats let it slide. Whatever gets'm through the night.

Yes, most of the time I do that, like you said, there harmless. I can tell you, and you most likely can tell me, many such stories.

I do know some boxers that fought Louis in exhibitions after he retired. In fact we have a hold list, the same with Dempsey.

One trainer claimed to be Johnny Bratton's son. Carried yellowed Bratton clippings with him, but would never discuss details, claiming a book was in the works.

Bad enough to have castles in the sky, but worse to live in them.
