No but there were those who expected him to be.

I mean he had snotted Schmeling and Carnera, surely the Levinsky's and Lasky's weren't going to do any better?

As for Jimmy Braddock, he was just a joke.

B, smack on the money. Terry McGovern...He from the age of 17
to the ripe "old" age of TWENTY ONE, was as great a knockout sensation as a Bantamweight and featherweight, as Mike Tyson was as a heavyweight. Terrible Terry flattened such greats as Pedlar Palmer, George Dixon, Eddie Santry, Oscar Gardenar, Joe Bernstein, Frank Erne, and possibly the hardest punching lightweight of all Aurelio Herrera, and kod the bigger Joe Gans in questionable circumstances, until Terry ran into his Waterloo in the person of his nemesis, Young Corbett who shockingly kod the
"unbeatable", Terrible Terry McGovern...Terry was never quite the same, as Mike Tyson was never the same after Buster Douglas a century later...:good

True dougie, but I had to be discreet....Speaking of Terry McGovern, the great trainer Charley Goldman who trained
Rocky Marciano, was a stablemate of Terry McGovern when McGovern ruled the little men...cheers D.
