I knew Mickey Walker in the last several years of his life as he was a member of several Veteran Boxing Organizations that I also belonged too.

Years ago when I was a kid, this organization said that they were going to have two former World Champions come and talk to us kids. They said one was Rocky Graziano, BUT they didn't know who ther other one was.

Me and my friends got there early and sat right in the middle of the 1st front. We waited for a while before they came out, and that is when I saw Mickey Walker for the 1st time.

I said, to my friend, "that's Mickey Walker." he said, "Who's Mickey Walker." I said hold this large picture of Rocky, I'll be right back. I ran all the way home a got a large picture of Mickey and then ran back.

I had both pictures signed and later I would tell me friend, who Mickey Walker was.

When Mickey died in 1981, I was invited to a private ceremory in his honor.

Mickey Walker had the most apt name bestowed on a fighter.."THE TOY BULLDOG ".And that he was...What other beefed up middleweight could take the blows of a Jack sharkey
    and Max Schmeling ?.Answer NONE.
Not even Jake LaMotta could have taken the blows of Max Schmeling for 8 rounds, when
    the ref intervened...
Mickey Walker, second to none in toughness, I think...

Of course Greb was toughness personified, but harry had a set of wheels
that took him out of harms way when required, but Walker had to absorb more punches...

No, I haven't seen them since I was a kid. I might have them, as I save everything.

Perhaps because I was born in 81 or so, but If I had a sign photo of Walker and Rocky. I would not lose em.

Hell I still have my Larry Holmes sign pic when I meet the former champ in the build up to the Bone Crusher Smith match in the late 90's.

I know were it is lol. And if I lost it, I pretty sure I go nuts.

I was in and out of foster homes so that could be one of the reasons.
