Well , I agree with most you said. Except for the part that Toney should retire. If Toney gets accustomed to this new weight and stays injury free, he should take one more fight at cruiserweight and take it from there. I think that is certainly reasonable.
I didn't see the fight but from what I've been hearing its really bad, its safe to say he's shot now to jones level, I think losing that much weight same with jones coming down from HW to 175 ****s up all your reflexes, speed, and stam. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets KOed if he keeps fighting, i know he is known best for his defense but if he has slowed down tremendously that would be his downfall
Like The Blade stated we were the only 2 Toney fans in an arena filled with hostile Lebedev fanatics. Despite being a huge Toney fan for nearly 15 years now (I wonder how much fellow posters can say their favourite fighters), I clearly have to admit that James seems finished at this point. Except for his defense pretty much everything looked shot last Saturday. On the other side I do think that Toney should give it a last try as a cw, he clearly has no business fighting as a hw anymore (let alone the Klits no matter what he thinks...). With his defense still being intact, there is no harm in taking on a decent cw (Brian Minto on ESPN anyone) while being 100% injury free and accustomed to 200 lbs. This could answer some questions and is definitely better than making stupidly dangerous MMA fights... As for Lebedev, I give him massive credit for fighting the perfect fight against Toney. He clearly has matured a lot since the Huck fight and is the best CW in my book.
Yeah because if it wasnt for the knee injury,he would have been dancing around the ring like he always do.... oh wait.
