that in their first fight JMM was the champ and Pac was the challenger...what the ****?

Everyone forgets that JMM was a titleholder (he beat gainer and medina) while Pac beat the recognized Champion Barrera.

Well I guess it depends on who's title is on the line. If I have a belt and I put it up then I think it's fair to say that you are challenging for my belt.

Here's the problem. Boxing is already confusing enough. No need to confuse people further by calling people champions who don't have a belt. The belt is the ultimate representation of a champion. Without a belt, it's hard to get recognition as a champion.

Pac didn't have a belt. JMM had the WBA,IBF belts.

    My bad Illmatic you're right

they said "Juan Manuel Marquez was the featherweight champion of the world, and challenger Manny Pacquiao was looking to erase a long Mexican stanglehold on the division."

Which is bs really cause Pac was the featherweight champion of the world at 126 while Marquez was only a title holder.

It's it something not to be pissed off mate. :D

JMM was a belt holder of the ABC boxing bodies while Pac was holding the Ring Belt. They are both belt holders but as far as the governign bodies JMM was their champ.

Well, JMM is the legally Champ that time because he holds the featherweight belts. Pacquiao belts are from different weight divisions.
