There isn't 1 LHW champ. There are 4 alphabet champs and 1 ring champ. LHW completely ****s up Illmatic's argument. Edrei is considered the lineal champ, but not the ring champ. Hopkins has the ring belt, but not the lineal belt. So who is the undisputed champion? According to Illmatic, Edrei is the undisputed champ and unified all the belts.

No. By fighting Hamed for the WBO belt , he had to give up his WBA belt. So no, he was not the recognized champ by the WBA when he fought Hamed.

Erdei never unified all the belts, neither did anyone down the line he beat. But he is the Lineal champ. DM never held all 4 belts, he never once won the WBC title or faced the WBC champion.

And if we are being technical, (which you seem to be) Ring is not a sanctioning body and not part of the sport itself, so Hopkins has no claim to any title. They are media.

That's fine, then Pac definately had no title when he fought JMM the first time. Wait a minute, who is the unified champ? Jones had 3 belts, then Tarver won them and was stripped. DM also had 3 and was stripped. So who is the unified champ? Hopkins or Edrei?

But he had the Lineal title, since he beat the man who beat the man. You can remove undisputed if you like. Lineal titles have nothing to do with the belts, and can be won without them.

he had the WBA belt, didn't lose it in the ring, and then was beaten by Hamed..

Whether the WBA chooses to strip Vasquez right before he fights Hamed or not is irrelevant.

Lineal champ is fan made title. There is no lineal sanctioning body. So if the ring belt doesn't count, the lineal titel doesn't count either. Pac was not a champ when he fought JMM.

The hell it isn't. You can't win a title from a person who has no title.

Champions are decided in the ring or in the office? If its office fighters may aswell not fight. They can just sell belts without fighting for them.

There doesn't need to be a sanctioning body to give a title credibility, if anything the sanctioning bodies often take away credibility from their title through their actions

It's not fan made. It follows the progress from when there used to be one title, which is the Lineal title. It has nothing to do with fans. It existed BEFORE the sanctioning bodies.

Wait a minute KG, you just said the Hopkins has no claim to the LHW title becase the ring is not a sacntioning body. Tell me what sanctioning body is in charge of the lineal title?

Champion = the best. He was recognised by wba as the best as he beat their previous best. How can he stop being the best if he never lost? How can he stop being the champ? Its all paperwork, the real champ is clear to anyone with a bit of commonsense.

like i said before he doesn't need to physically own the title if he is the one to beat the WBA champ, regardless of whether the sanctioning body decides to strip him right before the fight or not, the title is his, whether they give him the belt or not.
