I was rewatching the Dawson vs Adamek fight, seeing if Chad was indeed a Taylor twin

You know to see if its true what I've heard about how Chad Dawson, about him having a weak chin, having no heart, having the same stamina issues.

Adamek has just caught Dawson with a shot in the 10th, possibly sensing an opportunity Adamek commences with a vicious assault against Dawson against the ropes, any second you can feel that Dawson is gonna be caught with something big and then *BOOM* Dawson roles Adameks flails and catching him with a crisp right hook off the ropes, Adamek is visibly stunned, he backs up across the ring and you can see the "oh ****!" look on his face. Dawson stalks him again, and starts pouding on Adamek with combinations on the ropes, Dawson being aware of himself, backs off the assault, and then proceeds to circle the ring popping jabs in his face.

The start of round 12, Adamek against comes out trying to pressure Dawson. Dawson moves around the ring fluidly, whenever Adamek gets close he hits him with a straight right hand, then follows up with a quick combination and gets out. Adamek finally counters Dawson against the ropes, then *BOOM* gets caught with another right hand, Adamek steps back, gathers himself then attempts to assault Dawson again, Dawson catches Adamek with a body shot right to the gut, you can literally see the air leave Adameks body, there is about 1 minute left in the fight, and Adamek is done, his assault is no longer as furious as it had been just a moment ago, the beast has essentially been tamed. For the rest of the round, whenever Adamek gets close, Dawson simply grabs him then punches out of the clinch, scoring more points against an Adamek that looks completely out of ideas.

So in analyzing the last rounds of this fight, it is obvious to me, a 24 year old Dawson was far more composed, more aware of himself and far smarter in taking on a similar opponent in Adamek then Taylors efforts against Pavlik and Froch. The youngster was in there with a class fighter and never lost himself, and even after being knockdown never panicked and stuck to his gameplan and landed some shots on Adamek that would have dropped any other normal chinned fighter in the world.

Good post. The comparison between Taylor and Dawson is a horrible one. They fight nothing alike and Dawson is a much better and complete fighter than Taylor could ever be. Better footwork, speed, defense, jab, body punching, stamina and combo punching The only thing they have in common is the fact that they're both black.

You just couldnt bring yourself to say Adamek put Dawson down, instead you refer to it as "he caught him with a good punch".When a fighter scores a legit knockdown, they usually do sense an opportunity as Adamek did, unlike that bogus knockdown that Dawson scored.

Dawson impressed me in the late rounds of the Johnson fight. He's a mean kid.

I mean he caught him with a good punch and Al Bernstein was screaming "he's gotta run, he's gotta cover up and keep moving, pump the jab!" Nah, Dawson was fine, he composed himself and went to work like he was before. A sign of a savvy vet.

Dawson did handle it better than Taylor did, but he still has mental lapses that could be exploited. He also hasn't fought the same level of punchers that Taylor has.

Let's not forget- Adamek, in 32 LHW fights, had 21 knockouts. Glen Johnson only has 6 stoppage wins in 18 LHW fights. That's a 52% knockout rate.

Taylor got knocked out by Pavlik, who has 31 knockouts in 34 MW fights, and Froch, who has 20 knockouts in 25 fights. That's an 86& knockout rate- that's not calculated by wins, but by total fights.

If Chad fought the same caliber of finisher, there's no guarantee he would hold up the same as he did. It's not Chad's fault he hasn't, as all you can do is beat the people in front of you and I wouldn't have an issue with anyone giving him a top 10 P4P spot, but that's a pretty big variable to just gloss over when saying he handles things much better than Taylor did. He hasn't buckled like Jermain has, but he also hasn't faced the punchers Taylor did.

Chad looked gr8 in the Adamek fight. Adamek had some moments near the end, but Chad owned him.

Adamek is a much bigger puncher then either Froch or Pavlik. Adamek has knocked out and knocked down cruisers. Pavlik knocking out middleweights and Froch knocking out club fighters in England doesnt compare.

I think Froch vs Dawson would be an interesting encounter considering Dawson dies late and Froch comes on strong late, what would happen coz we all know that Froch can finish an opponent but Dawson to me just seems to smart to be caught by 2 or 3 big shots in succession

So you're saying Eric Harding, Tomasz Adamek, Glen Johnson, and Antonio Tarver are nothing more then slouch boxers that can't punch?

i really don't think you can compare the two. imo dawson is far better than taylor ever was... and he's only improving.
