I was feeling physically ill watching Calzaghe beat Jones like that. Honestly now I understand 'to some extent' what people must of felt like watching Holmes beat up Ali, or Marciano beat up Louis. The Tarver and Johnson fights were one thing because you still had the sense that Roy "could" do something, and it was all mental for him. But last saturday night proved that it isn't all mental and his body just can't do it. He fought his ass off to win that fight. Watching Calzaghe clown around and toy with him was down right sickening.

Props to Lampley for saying something about it. He said something along the lines of "Maybe Calzaghe should have a little bit more respect and not showboat as much for a Legend of the sport" :deal

Calzaghe beat up a guy that got knocked out by Tarver and Johnson and hasn't won a big fight since winning the Lt Heavy title 5 years ago. Thats it. He didn't beat a top P4P fighter, he beat a shell of a fighter.

I hope more people feel the same way about this.

Yeah I felt really bad for Roy but in the same time I liked that Joe won like that cuz I'm a fan of him too.But really I was pulling for a Roy upset...sadlyt it never came. But he did fight his heart out....probably giving all he had left,he should stop now.

It was sad to see especailly after the cut and is corner doing a terrible job on it to be honest. This fight should have happened in 2003 before roy made the way up to HW, then it would have been less one sided after 6 rounds and Roy may just have edged it.

you make it sound like joe was the young buck taking out the old master...it isnt on a par with the scenarios you mention, there is an age gap of 2 years,im sure jones knew what he was getting into,he looked in great shape to me!incomparable mate thats all.

Roy showboated his whole career and against limited opposition but it is "sickening" since Calzaghe did it to him? Sickening is showboating against Rick Frazier or Telesco guys who had ZERO chance.

Your double standards are sickening Roy just got what he gave to others. Deal with it.

Calslappy cherry picked his whole career, he could have unified SMW a long time ago and got these big fights yrs ago but he hid in England and he finally came out of hiding when everyone else was old as hell.

I wasnt happy about JCs showboating main reason being he couldve TKOd jones if he hadnt began farting about.

But you have to remember if the shoe was on the other foot, Jones would be dancing his arse off, so no i dont feel sorry for him. There was plenty of respect shown between the two, I dont think showboating bothers Roy Jones tbh.

Yeah, i thought the showboating was a bit too much, then i remembered who he was doing it to, and what he had done to part time boxers and that made it legit. Plus dont forget who started the showboating on saturday.

In some sense i agree with you, his showboating was cringeworthy and it was embarrasing but jones has been doing that for years it was quite nice to see somebody give it back to him , but calzaghe was embarrasing jones through ring genral ship and his ring skills he never needed to taunt to embarras jones

True, Roy would have clowned Calzaghe and made him look foolish just like he did Trinidad had he had the chance.

Age is a number. You can see the deterioration in Jones's game from his prime is far greater then Calzaghes. And the comparisons were to seeing a legend get beat up....not necessarily about who is doing the beating.

:patsch Roy will be 40 in like 8 weeks, plus he has been considered shot since 04, Calslappy admited RJJ was shot, why didn't he fight Dawson or Tarver in 04? Because he cherry picks better than anyone else in the history of the sport.

Calzaghe may cherry pick but the greatest cherry picker of all time is Roy Jones Jr. :deal
