There plenty before the fight who still fancied Roy. The win is not to be sniffed at.

You really are a moron. I have NEVER said Calzaghe's resume is greater than Roy's, it is not. I am far from a nuthugger.

i dont agree with the chin statement.

no-one labelled judah much after cotto and one flush punch can send anyone down at the right time.

hell, floyd wobbled oscar in the later rounds and oscar is as granite chinned as they get.

but you're right, and we knew he would do it, but unfortunately boxing offers so many 'illusions' with which the beercan fan can be fooled into believing a victory is something that it is not.

anyone who picked roy was just going with their heart and not their head. you gotta be crazy to actually beleive roy had a chance but people are such big fans that they refused to write him off even though he hasn't looked good in 5+ yrs.

This fight was all about two big names cashing in before they retire and they probably did very well, given that they did the promotion themselves.

I had Calzaghe backed personally so I'm inclined to agree, but many posters on here (whose opinions I value - rather than arm chair fans) had Jones backed. I think it's too short sighted to slight Calzaghe's win.

I am in complete agreement as to why Hop didnt deem the fight necessary, i agree with him.Joe could have done a lot more to make it neccessary, i was originally responding to a dip**** who said cal should have fought him earlier and the fact is he tried, it was on and hop broke it off. Again a decision i agree with from Bhop.

i dunno man i just look at it like this- calzaghe has looked great in his last 5 fights leading up to this besides the hopkins fight(which he still looked decent in) but we all know that was due to B-Hop making everyone look bad win or lose. roy jones junior hasn't looked good since 2003. all postters who picked roy did so cause they loved the guy too much top beleive the magic was over.

I agree. It is does resemble Lewis-Tyson in some ways, and I felt bad seeing a finished Tyson get beat up that night too. If anything though Jones is even further gone then that version of Tyson was (if thats possible).

I loved every minute of it. I've never been a Roy Jones fan and while I do respect him as the best fighter of his era and probably the best since SRL, I think Roy got what was coming to him. Joe got dropped with a wicked forearm shiver and after the round, Roy did a dance, Joe got pissed and repaid it in spades. He demoralized Roy. It was beyond embarrassing. The entire second half of the fight was Joe throws punches at Roy, Joe showboats, Roy bleeds, repeat.

I understand that a lot of people love Roy because he got them into boxing, and a lot of people still consider him Superman. I hope this ass kicking of monumental proportions convinces Roy to hang them up, I really do. It won't though. Call it pride, or stupidity, or even being slightly senile, Roy will still fight again. Roy will fight a guy who sucks, like a Yusef Mack or someone similar, and he'll win, and he'll have hope for the future..... Hope springs eternal as they say.

Again we are in agreement, an extra effort was needed on behalf of Joe to make the fight viable for Bhop. Like I said my post was to the dip**** who was insinuating Joe ducked Hop.

I bet you felt so terrible when Roy Jones was showboating guys with no business being in the ring right?

Oh, when RJJ does it against horrible opposition, its great, when Joe does it to a past his prime RJJ, its soo terrible?

Crybaby, pure and simple. RJJ did it many times to weak and overmatched competition, including a literal offduty garbageman, where were your tears then?
