Yeah...it probably would be a lot different if I'd ever developed a real love of wrestling.

As it is, my experiences with wrestling have all been negative.

I was terrible at it in junior high.

In fights during my youth (both "play" fights and real ones) I could always more than hold my own with anyone standing up punch for punch, even if they had a little background in boxing or karate or what have you (naturally had quick, accurate hands and could think on my feet long before ever taking a lesson) but would also get mauled and pretzeled up by varsity wrestlers who would simply duck (or walk through) a jab and plunk me on my ass and then give me the anaconda treatment. My Kryptonite. Lost by verbal submission every time (why do all wrestlers seem to have iron jaws??). That pissed me right off. :yep

And then, as a spectator my adrenaline just doesn't spike over top-shelf wrestling as much as it does watching top-shelf striking arts or top-shelf BJJ (like those fast-paced technical matches in tournaments, with guys going in and out of crazy subs every few seconds). :conf

I do like a lot of sports, but there are some big ones that just never moved me for whatever reason. American football, soccer (although I've been known to catch world cup fever on occasion) and wrestling just don't grab me. :think

They are starting to gain momentum now. Hopefully they can give the UFC a run for it's money.
