B,you GOT HIM...Jimmy Barry,it was...Jimmy Barry was a great puncher who kod 39 men, until the bout in london,Dec.6,1897,when Barry kod Walter Croot of England in the 16th rd. Poor Croot struck his head on the
floor and died after the bout. Jimmy Barry, never kod a man after the trag
edy, but still remained undefeated for the rest of his career...Good show :hi:b.b.

This site is very good But I did find some mistakes. I even talked to them about it. They have George Gardiner killing Jack Root back in 1902, But Root lived until 1963, and even fought until 1906 and also fought Gardiner 3 more times.

Root down three times in 17th -- A wire report by Scripps erroneously reported that Root died following this bout.
The Manuel Velasquez Boxing Fatality Collection states Root died of injuries sustained in this bout.

I have added several deaths to this site as well. I believe it's something like 1500 now.

I was looking through that looking for the answer, then got sidetracked by all the deaths, mainly the pre-1890 ones.

It's amazing how information gets mixed up like that, especially since they fought again 3 times.

I was surprised at the huge list on there, I always thought the number of ring fatalities was around 500...never even imagined it was as high as that.

Definitely quite sad, at least there hasn't been many which are recent, and we don't hear of it much nowadays. You have to respect anyone who steps in a ring really, even in smaller fights etc. It only takes a little carelessness from refs/official, sometimes even fighters, for these tragedies to take place. It's a great shame.
