Just made me realise how horribly he would have crucified Hatton into an early stoppage and how horribly he would have utterly destroyed an all time favourite of mine in Kostya Tszyu fairly easily.

Anybody ever see a ferocious swarmer/pressure guy with that great of a defence? His head movement was incredible in these two fights.

Granted Arguello is not prime here, but that version of Arguello is still superior to anybody currently at LW-LWW by far.

What a waste of talent with Pryor, it's a shame he got into drugs and never had the big fights. I would still have to consider a fighter who was THAT GOOD to be an ATG however, these types don't come around too often.

Who would have crucified Hatton early? Pryor or Arguello?

Alright.......I should have read the other paragraphs.
Well, yeah. Anyone with good power and speed would give Hatton fits.

Resume and achievements is more important to me than talent. Pryor is overrated historically despite his enormous talent. He's a fighter of the past so naturally people tend to not nitpick and underrate his achievements like they do for so many current fighters.

Exactly...I think Pryor had what it took to beat a PRIME Sugar Ray....that is hard for me to say b/c Ray was the best in his era but the Hawk never got the chance to prove he was better b/c the fight was never made.....I think Ray prevented this fight from happening and Hawk missed out on making more out of his career b/c he was a drug addict. Still probaby one of the best the world of boxing has ever had the privledge of seeing in the ring.

Pryor and Arguello were both all time greats and I would pick either one over anyone at jr welterweight and possible lightweight right now. It's a shame Pryor never got to fight Leonard for the big payday - but he has no one to blame but himself. If he would have kept clean and moved up through welterweight - he could have eventually positioned himself for a fight with the retiring and un-retiring Sugar Ray Leonard. That's truly one of boxing's great missed chances.

Pryor was a beast, but I'm also not inclined to give him a free pass on his outside-the-ring problems, just like I can't completely overlook Tyson's issues. Discipline in all phases is what separates athletes like that versus someone like a Bernard Hopkins.

On the other hand, there's no disputing his talent. I think I'd favor the post-Duran version of Leonard slightly -- I think he needed that experience -- but it's a close call either way.

Resume and achievements are very important, but many don't even know how to gauge those correctly. A win over a big name who is massively overrated close gets you more credit than massacring an equal level fighter of smaller public regard.

I'd favour Leonard also. But it was just a pleasure watching someone that was so much better than every LW-WW today in action, even though I had seen the fights before, I really took a good hard analytical look at them this time.

I'd favour Pryor over Mayweather significantly, I think he'd take him out.

Due to his accomplishments in winning championships in three weight divisions - I would rank Arguello higher as an all time great - but ovbviously head to head - Pryor was the better/stronger/tougher fighter. It's a shame that Arguello was never able to secure that fight with Roberto Duran. It would have been a classic.

Arguello acomplished more and even tough he was past his prime and not in his best division he still gave the great Pryor hell in the first fight.if it was a weaker champion instead of Pryor Arguello would be a 4-division champion.btw he couldve went after Mamby and win a 140 belt instead of facing Pryor but he said he wouldnt consider himself the 140 champ unless he beat Pryor thats the kind of fighter Arguello was.

To me the fact that Arguello CHOSE Pryor rather than Mamby is one of the most impressive parts of the whole thing. In addition, Pryor was a great fighter, but due to his drug problems his time on top was very short, so without Arguello he would probably be little more than a footnote in boxing history.
