Remember, Duran is a poor mans Pryor. Nothing more.

Leonard was lucky to quasi-duck Pryor and Cuevas at their primes.

Sugar always had a way of stacking the deck in his favor.

    Smart management. :)

He was also ducking Curry. I remember he was calling the fight against Mccrory and when Curry landed that left hook.. Ray was on Currys balls:lol:

Arguello was a gentlemen to his opponents before and after the fights. A very classy man. He was my favorite @ the time and I was in a funk for a couple weeks over the Pryor #1 fight. Pryor was a beast that night. I think Arguello may have been able to take him a couple years before, but hey gotta give Pryor credit. Is there any truth to Pryor being on some performace enhancers that night, something a bout his trainer and a bottle of ????

It's not even very close. Arguello for sure. Accomplished far, far more.

Pryor was phenominal. He wasn't just a tough swarmer, but he was skilled defensively, blessed with great speed, and a good defense. His punch output was unreal...

He beats up Mayweather, Cotto, Hatton, Tszyu, etc.

I would loved to see fights between Pryor and Duran, Chavez, Whitaker.

I agree - though I think he wouldn't "beat up" Mayweather, necessarily, but I do think he could win. If he had just stayed on track and not gotten so messed up on drugs, his potential was enormous.

Pryor against Duran, Chavez, Whitaker are just dream matchups and I can't imagine how incredible those fights would be to watch.

It's tough to place Pryor in a ranking of ATG's, since we didn't get to see what he was truly capable of, but we can imagine head-to-head matchups based on some of his great performances. In most of my imagined head-to-heads, Pryor wins - though I think SRL would have beaten him in a close, tough fight.

I actually think that Pryor was a better fighter than Calzaghe all in all, that says for how much I rate this guy's ability.

I take Pryor over everyone of those guys but Whitaker and Duran.

I happen to favour him slightly over Pernell, even though Pernell is a high end favourite of mine.

Duran/Pryor I favour Duran, but not heavily at all, it'd be a bloodbath. Probably the greatest fight ever, so much skill and would be such a brutal war, I wish this would have happened, can you imagine Pryor vs. Duran mate?

I could have an orgasm thinking about how amazing Pryor vs. Duran would have been as a boxing fan.

 I've thought Pryor-Duran would have been the greatest fight ever for a long time as well. And it's not just the fact that both were so great offensively, so aggressive, so animalistic, and threw shots with horrible intentions, it's also because both were masters at their craft and could do virtually anything they wanted in the ring. This wouldn't be like two C-level sluggers going toe to toe. We would have been treated to a ****ing classic in every aspect of the sport!

I'd go with Duran by close decision and while I think Whitaker could very well beat Pryor, I have been swayed towards Pryor's aggression and pressure being the deciding factors on the judges scorecards in a competitive fight.

Chavez was great, but gets beaten by Duran and Pryor. In a matchup with Sweet Pea, I'd expect Whitaker to do the best work and earn a 9-3, 8-4 decision, but in the end, I'd envision the judges saving Chavez with a draw. Just a little hunch I have.:D

Just the level of talent and skill in Pryor/Duran is really insane as a fantasy match up, both of these guys were just INCREDIBLE fighters, true gems.

Nobody ever talks about Pryor's defence, it literally was as good as Floyd's when he fought from the outside and slipped shots.

Pryor's Defense better than Floyds? I don't Floyd's ever been hit with some of the shots Aruello landed on Pryor? Could be wrong though.

No, his defensive ability is 'on level' I said. You have to realise, any volume guy gets hit more than a guy who's fighting defensively, Sharmba Mitchell hit Floyd with some stupid shots because Floyd was deliberately trying to put Mitchell away and thus left himself open.

When Pryor boxed outside technically, he was extremely hard to hit.

If Floyd fougth like he did against Mitchell everytime, he'd get tagged a lot more, like Pryor did.

    Make more sense?
