Chris Byrd was slick but lost clearly - I just hate it when they stop the fight when it gets exciting for the fans...

What was so ******ed about it? I guess Byrd's family likes him with somewhat intact brains.

In no way, shape or form Byrd was about to be stopped by Povetkin. But well, Povetkin was winning anyway.

Props to Povetkin's stamina, there goes that myth.
And props to Byrd's heart, evasiveness and being in with the best prospect in the HW division at 37.

He would have gotten stopped in that round or the next, Pvoetkin was jsut as strong as he was in round 7, while Byrd wasn't.

I need one. Little Sasha's gone and gotten all grown up, beating up former champions. I'm so proud.

He was starting to load up, things were looking increasingly bad for Byrd IMO.

    Sweden's scorecard

    Povetkin-Byrd

    10-9
    10-10
    9-10
    10-9
    10-10
    10-9
    10-10
    10-9
    10-10
    10-9
    TKO

    99-95

Povetkin works his way to a win, Byrd did ok but his workrate dropped during the final rounds. Povetkin's stamina seems to be great.

I felt that Byrd could have gone the distance, but he was dropping behind on the scorecards and couldn't rock Povetkin. So, there was really no reason to continue taking punishment.
