    Time will tell.

Not one of the guys you mentioned had the level of opposition through 15 fights that Povetkin has.

When does a heavyweights prime end? I thought it was roughly 28 for lightweight, 30 for middle, and 32 for heavys

1 thing that's being overlooked is that Povetkin is only in his 3rd year, 14th pro fight. Ike was in his 20th bout.

Who were Wlad (yet to step up for Luis Monaco KO loss!), Vitali (hadn't even got to Dicky Ryan & Julius Francis), Ike (W10 Marion Wilson), fighting around that stage? LOL

Also, Povetkin is a calculating, thinking fighter. Ike was a nutcase and couldn't even control his life.

Povetkin has the tools and the intelligence. There's a limit to how amazing he can look vs a southpaw trying to survive. He's less explosive than Ibeabuchi was, but he has a way better brain. Povetkin's the future of the heavyweights.

a lot of heavys only start reaching there peak at 30 but you cannot pigeonhole any weight or boxer as there are always exceptions to the rule.

lennox was a better fighter at 35 than he was at 25 even though he had lost some handspeed.

Yes, when Povetkin was in puberty. A solid heavy can and should fight at a top level even in his late 30's.

Povetkin was out-boxing Byrd in rounds 1-5 , in boring little action rounds. It looked like it was going to be a a snoozer.

From rounds 6 to 11 , Povetkin figuered out Byrd and started giving him a beating. Byrd was stunned in the 10th , and was starting to take a pounding on the ropes in the 11th.

Wlad beat Axel Schulz in his 3rd year as a pro, a decent win at that time and he was only 23 years old, let's not forget that. Vitali beat Herbie Hide in his 3rd year for the WBO title.

    i remember that fight.
very little difference if any between the wlad that beat schulz into submission and the wlad that beat brewster and byrd recently and a similar ending to all 3..

Wlad will decapitate anyone these days.
I'm suprised at Povetkin's lack of power.

Careful how you put that. Some of these guys seem to get a bit fired up if you say Povetkin lacks KO power, much less, that he lacks power.

povetkin isn't a one punch man.

    but he's hurtful in combinations.

he's a definite threat to wlad cos of his style i think.

he's strong and quick in clusters.:bbb

After this Byrd fight, Povetkin proved himself, yes, but I am not so sure he'd be a threat to Wladmir.

Wladimir is 6 foot 6.5, and has probably the absolute hardest punch in the divsion, as well as being one of the best two or three pure boxers in teh divsion, as well.

Povetkin would be in with an entirely different animal than what Donald or Byrd posed.

To say that Povetkin is a threat to Wlad, I am not so sure of, now..

I'm not fired up at all mate don't get me wrong. One person starts saying it, a few pages later it's "obvious lack of power" as if we're discussing facts. I maintain that Povetkin should have fought 30 bums first, knocking them all out in the first or second round. We would all hail Byrd for having an iron chin, standing up to the knockout artist Povetkin

It's ridiculous. It's not like Byrd and Donald are easily knocked out. In both cases it took a Klitschko, and in one case an insane Ibeabuchi.

I'm not that positive about his chances against Wlad though. I think he can beat anyone except Wlad. Wlads jab will win the fight.
