"I will quit boxing in five years" - Amir Khan

Whats wrong with these gay ass boxers these days...

eeeeerrrrrr I'm retiring at 28, i'm getting out of boxing at 30, i'm getting out of boxing and want to be with my family.

What happened to all the boxers, that loved the game. Like Larry Holmes, like Muhammad Ali, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Frank Bruno...............................

A lot of boxers say that and it never happens. I doubt Khan will be any different.

 

He has a great life.

The only sense you can say he has not had a life is in the sense he has to be disciplined in what he eats and cannot smoke and drink and do drugs, etc.

But as a Muslim he should not be doing these things anyhow - even if he was not a boxer.

However I seen facebook pictures ages ago of some guy - and it showed him out drinking with Khan and Khan had a bottle of booze in his hand and he was well pissed.

Not that I am knocking that - he can do whatever he likes. Wont help his boxing career though if he goes to heavy on the drink like Ricky Hatton.

 

Colin Jones walked away at the top of the game after his WBA / IBF World Title fight with Don Curry when he was just 25 years old.

Started boxing at 9 years old and at 25 had had enough of the game.

Naz as well was 27 years old.

So you cant say everyone will hang around too long.

 

I've seen Amir Khan in the News Bar liverpool, having a good time.........

I'm not one of these people that will go over to athlete's when there out.

Ali is in a terrible state. Homes not as bad but still looks and sounds like a man 30 years older. Eubank is broke. Bruno's mental health issues are not a secret. Benn is about the only one of them who is not, at least as far as i know, ****ed up in one way or another. I'd say Khan's idea of life after te age of 28 sounds a whole lot better. I'd bet you every one of those guys would swap their circumstances now and the final decade of their careers for Khan's money and health when he is done with boxing.

 

Aslong as he entertains in that 5 year period I have no complaints.
Better to get out while your brain still functions normally, the kid's already had one bad ko, I think before the 5 year period is up he'll have another, 28's a good age.

 

He won't get to 28 in his boxing career.

 

Just fight promotion/getting his name in the news, imho, if he's still doing well, I very much doubt he will quit in 5 years.

He probably believes it though, however as he gets older he'll soon realise that 5 years is no time at all.
