If you are boxing fan, you can denied that the match between Cotto v PBF is the one we are all want to see, this match will break the bank for both fighters....

Now that said....wanting the match to happend and actal happening is another...

From the pure boxing point of view, this fight will present great battle of contrast, the speedy flashy PBF v. the determine and discipline Cotto.

After we watch Cotto beat Mosley and PBF beat Hatton ,I have the following observatins:

PBF: Even though he was able to fair better on the inside game than on previous fights, PBF won this fight on the outside..since the were very few times that you can clearly say te fight turned into a inside fighting type since Cortez never allowed the fight to developed that way...Now, PB did his best work in the center of the ring catching Hatton with right leads that landed flush in several occassion in every round, they tok their toll on Ricky and the KO was a combination of excellent accuracy on behalf of PBF, a left hook right on the money that Ricky never saw, and the right lead work that PBF did on every round do to the fact that Ricky had no head movement nor preteded to improve his defence since he jsut wanted to get on the inside, probably add to that the possibility on Ricky;s part ot underestimate PBF streght...now that said..Cotto and Hatton are two totally different tpe of fighters with vast difference in skill level...

Cotto: he showed during the SSM fight that Cotto posses the ability to cange his game plan, and executed to a tee, by improving an already good jab into a powerful tool that punish and hurt SSM duing the fight, not only punishing but also controling the tempo of the fight and neutralizing any potential edge on speed that SSM had...sure SSM is older, but in ring years SSM, has a lot left and had a lot left on the Cotto fight, Cotto also showed his ability on counterpunch and controlling the fight even as he was fighting back ward, this is yet another advantage on Cotto's tool shed that Ricky just didn;t had.....

Cotto v. PBF will prof t be a fight between two smart boxers with boxing tools above a beyond that the opposition....and one that might boil to te power of Cotto and the ellusivenes of PBF...

Cotto jab, will be key to this fight to prevent PBF from using the right hand lead as he so often has use..Cotto has the discipline to address the PBF shell as he get on the corner, Cotto body attack will need to be as systematic as he ever have done...that he can do this it to be seen..it is awfly hard to keep PBF on one plae to hit him...Cotto is excellent in cornerig people and cutting the ring...and Hatton was able to do this to PBF , I think Cotto will be able also, but he will need to jab jab jab whe in the center of the ring

Mayweather-Cotto is the #1 fight to be made in the sport.

As of right now, I'd go with PBF by close, competitive, decision.

I think Paul Williams out of all the WWs is the toughest fight for PBF though.

I agree with this. Cotto is the biggest fight and Paul Williams has the best chance to beat PBF due to size and styles.

Paul Williams is NOT the man at 147 like it ior not, sure he posses great physical attributes, but at this point, he has not EARNED the chance to fight PBF, Cotto on the other hand..has....PW present high risk low rewards, peopel will not fork 50 to see PW v PBF end of story..Cotto has a god of a chance as anyone....

    Yeah, nice assessment.

Mayweather can fight on the inside, though. Whether or not he wants to do it a lot against Cotto is another story. I think he should pick his spots, as well as with the clinch (Cotto is a strong guy and clinching a strong guy can take its toll).

Speaking of in-fighting, I also need to watch more tapes of Cotto and see how good he is with the left hook to the body when up close. Usually I see the damage he does with this at mid-range or when coming forward (ex. Quintana)

Paul Williams is the only Man that has a chance @147 to beat Mayweather. He (PBF) is simply on another level, but WIlliams can negate some of that with his incredible condor like wing span, great stamina, and incredible workrate.

I don;t think that PBF is as strong inside as he is in the center of the rign, but that is no mistery...I will say this, if it make any sence, Cotto has better tools to deal with PBF in the center of the ring than BF has to deal with Cotto in the ropes or the inside fighting..

IMO Paul Williams has the resume to deal with that magnitud of a fight against PBF at this point....We had a number of questions answer regarding PW against Margo, but Margo is not hard guy to meet no he is a mover, he is a puncher...

I never said Williams was the man at 147 that honor is reserved for PBF. What Williams does is give PBF a stylistic nightmare. He's tall long armed southpaw with a good jab, workrate, stamina and pop. Cotto doesn't present anything new that PBF hasn't seen and dealt with before. Williams on the other hand is a freak of nature at 147.
