Cheeky ******* he is. The ONLY chance he has against Froch is a punchers one. He is slow, struggles to throw combos and let's be honest, he is more than lilkely pissed all the ****ing time. Looking to talk himself into a fight rather than earn it. Never been the same since b-hop schooled the **** out of him.
Pavlik talks to much without doing anything cos of problems, Froch would batter him with verbals before he even gets in ring.
If I was Froch, Pavlik and Kessler would be 2 fighters I'd be looking at for upcoming fights. Two names in the sport but neither anywhere near the peak and fights I could see Froch shining in and even picking up stoppages. Ever since Pavlik stepped up to SMW, he's been a fighter I thought Froch should target. Stylistically, he offers nothing to worry Carl
He's still a 'name' though. None of us could fault Froch for taking an 'easier' fight. Could be a win / win for Froch.
Pavlik would be a great fight for Froch next. Still a big name who would give Carl a good payday, but not someone who would actually pose Carl that much of a problem.
Why? It's one of the better options out there. They mesh to make a great fight, and unlike Bute seemingly...Pavlik is the owner of a solid chin. Even if Froch was to dominate, he'd have to spend some time breaking Kelly down and Kelly wouldn't just take his beating, he'd try to fire back.
Yes it would. See his last fight? What has he done apart from taking a couple of rounds from Sergio in one of Martinez's mid-fight lulls? Pavlik has even needed multiple kds to get rid of the bums to boost him up. He's a name only, and not really even that nowadays IMO. He doesn't seem to have the desire, and would surely take a bad beating against Carl as his chin would hold up for a while. Waste of time for Carl, but admittedly would probably be another momentum-building stoppage at this stage. Kessler beating Green (of all people) is a better scalp than Kelly has picked up in...well, must be three years since Rubio now, surely? I can see what you're thinking here mate, but not for me.
Enough to make it interesting? Can't see Pavlik picking his spots and doing much damage here, he's pretty heavy handed but would get manhandled here IMO. Just doesn't look a confident fighter anymore.
I agree Pavlik has looked a shadow of a fighter since the Martinez fight and his troubles but even still, apart from Ward obviously & Bute, I don't see him being much less of a threatening opponent as Johnson &, to a lesser extent, Abraham were. As I said in my first post, I think Froch would win comfortably but it's still a valid fight due to his name. I just don't think there is a massive gulf in class between the ex middleweight champion, even though he's looked a pale of that version recently, and people like Johnson & Abraham were when they get mentioned in context of the tough run of fights Froch has had.
