There was a little spot on FNFs about Pavlik last week. Now with Garcia and out of Ohio. He says he's better than ever.

Can think of a lot worse opponents in terms of providing entertainment. He will meet the Cobra head on and has wiskas

None of us would begrudge him an easy fight, but this is Carl Froch. He'll want to fight the best

I can't see how the Pavlik of the Lopez fight is one of the best fights available for Froch

    Yep, all of this.

Would've considered it a meh matchup even before this weekend. Pavlik is done at this level. Especially above 160 where he can't impose his size and strength.

If kelly can get **** back together in time, this fight would be good! Pavlik is a very good fighter and has heart. Froch from saturday night is a scary opponent right now and maybe for the future of pavlik.

I think it'd be a good fight for a while though. Froch could make a real fortune if Bute wants the rematch, American TV give Carl Pavlik, and he fights Kessler at home. Also, he would surely win them all. :happy

Pavlik would be knocked out inside 4 rounds. He comes to fight, he is wide open, easy to hit with rights and lefts, doesn't move his feet well and telegraphs his shots. He has heavy hands but not brutal power, but the shots are not quick and not the type that Froch walks into. Froch could take a shot or two in order to land his own and Pavlik would struggle with taking clean shots from Froch.

He would be looking for one twos constantly but with no angles and if he missed a right hand even once he extends himself due to poor footwork and leaves his chin hanging out. Froch would find it incredibly easy to land and on a guy who would be stood right in front of him looking to hold the middle ground.

Entertaining fight for sure, but not a long night and I'd put good money on Froch by KO and earlyish.

froch would end what is left of Pavlik's career. He is shot to pieces after the B-hop fight and Martinez fight. Flea is correct about needing multiple kd's to get rid of much "lesser" fighters.
I am fed up of the tit thinking he's someone special when he is clearly not. He was just a massive middleweight with a punch. I would go so far as to call him a bum as no fighter is, but he is another example of a fighter who is living of past glories. Totally deluded. He'd actually be good fodder for Bute to tune up on if he carries on

You guys are taking Pavlik way to Lightly! I know this is the British Forum and you guys are all Froch fans pretty much and rightfully so. But, Kelly is no walk in the park.

I think this fight would be a possible FOTY and a "Fan Friendly" fight.

Nobody knows where Kelly Pavlik is at just yet. We do know he is with a World Class Trainer now and is working very hard. If You watch the video's of him sparring and Hitting the bags you will see He looks

    1. Sharper
    2. Quicker
    3. motivated

The only thing we as boxing fans can take from Kellys Last fight against Aaron Jaco is that his movement has improved. He had a bounce in his step I never seen before.

I like that Kelly is taking it slow in fighting D class fighters. Its a chance for Robert Garcia to Fine tune Kelly the way he wants!

This is just 1 boxing fan to another, but dont count Kelly out! He is a True Warrior Himself in The ring just Like Carl Froch! The WAR between him and Carl will be EPIC if it ever happens. I expect Both guys to Hit the ground.

I think Tony Bellew should talk to Pavlik and let him know that he shouldn't be talking about Froch. Pavlik would keep his mouth closed and run for the hills if Bellew told him that.

I don't think Froch would stop Pavlik early and if he did stop him at all, it'd be on accumulation late on. Even though Froch has been in a higher weight class than Pavlik for most of their careers, Pavlik is a naturally bigger man. Froch walks around at about 175lbs and within weeks of the fight is a few pounds under or over 168lbs, so he fights right on the limit. Pavlik, however, weighed 183lbs in the ring against Martinez and now he is with a better coach and at a higher weight, I'd imagine he'd be around 20lbs heavier than Froch on fight night.

That weight difference is quite significant and I don't think there's any reason to suspect Pavlik's chin has deteriorated in any way. It was always strong at middleweight, apart from the Taylor knockdown which was reckless by Pavlik, and it still seems to be strong now. Whilst I think Froch is an underrated puncher, I don't think he has enough power to hurt Pavlik early.

Aside from that, from a stylistic standpoint I think it's an interesting fight and I can't see Froch dominating. Pavlik has a great jab and a key factor is their reach. Froch had 5" on Bute and it helped him control the fight but Pavlik has equally long arms, which is quite freaky for a former middleweight. I imagine there'd be quite a lot of jabbing which should suit Pavlik. He has no inside game at all though and that's where Froch would have a lot of success but he'd have to be careful.

I'd probably pick Froch on points, though a late stoppage is possible. I don't see it being an easy blowout though, even though Pavlik probably isn't the fight he once was. His size and style would make this interesting until the later rounds when I think the fitter Froch would take over. His unorthodox style would cause Pavlik a lot of troubles.
