I respectfully disagree. I think his chin is overrated and his jab is decent but not quick enough to cause Froch the problems that Taylor and Ward could. It would be a war and because Pavlik does all his damage from range, and has the reach advantage, Froch would be using his jab just to offset Pavlik and close the gap. He would find it very very easy to land uppercuts and both right and left hands and has the chin to take a shot on the way in without being scrambled.

Froch would have the faster hands for one of the few times in his world title fights and would be landing flush more than he received flush shots.

i respectfully disagree myself! Froch and Pav are both not fast! Actually you could say they are about the same speed. Pavlik is the type that does not let anybody inside of his 75 inch reach unless he wants to.

Bute is a Great "BOXER" but not a "Fighter" like Pavlik and Froch are. Pavlik likes to Brawl. I would assume his gameplan is to work the Left hand on anybody but if a Brawl begins, he is all for it!!

Bute Laid on the ropes, Pavlik would never do that! This would be a 12 round fight, or a late stoppage by either man! no Blow out here!

Agreed. jack makes some valid points but they don't apply to this version of Pavlik. He's dire now.

I dunno about Garcia as a trainer for Pavlik - Rios has been awful in his last few fights, Surely pavlik needs someone to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Pavlik is a natural fighter and is tuff so it wouldn't be a complete blow out but he was pushed hard by Lopez who basically walked straight in and let his hands go. His confidence is still low by the looks of his next opponent.

Froch being the natural Supermiddle and coming off a massive win would be favourite and he wouldnt fear anything kelly brings to the table. Would be a fun fight but id predict late KO for Carl

To be honest, much as its unlikely Pavliks got much left, its as good a fight as there is for Froch if he cant get Kessler again. And the issue with Kessler is at what weight? Can Kessler do SMW, and would Carl step to LH.
Would Froch want Dirrell again, I doubt it, already squeeked that one, bigger risk/reward than Pavlik.
Wards too good for Froch, it would be a re-run of the 1st fight, so Kessler would be definitely option A, but theres not many B,C,D's so Pavliks as good a shout as any.

If Froch was to move up a division, Froch v BHop would be good.

pavlik would be a half decent fight for froch, but who knows pavlik apart from hardcore boxing fans,it won't sell at all in britain,he is a nobody on the supermiddle scene

true but you can bet it would sell in the US, the big networks would be all over it. If Carl faced a decent american opponent next you can bet there will be big interest from the money men over there. Hes in a great position. Its a shame that Kessler took out Green that type of fight would have been winable but got him some good money

  9. I don't understand why people wouldn't want to see this fight. Two guys who can bang. It would be a tremendous fight.

I don't think you can really rule Pavlik out, given the reasons behind his decline. Whilst he has been very disappointing in recent years, he's been an alcoholic since before the Hopkins fight up until his bout with Jaco. If he can stay away from the alcohol, then I think it's a bit premature to write him off just yet because that would undoubtedly of had had effect on his career. I don't know how likely it is he'll return to his peak but I think it's a long time since we've seen him at his best. If alcohol was the main reason behind that drop of form and he's stopped drinking, maybe there's some hope for him.

I understand where you and Strike are coming from though. I hope Pavlik makes some noise and we get to see them meet one day.

If PAvlik had chosen better fights he could be in line for a Froch fight. Big, strong and powerful. He'd come to fight but ultimately Froch would war with him and his chin and power would be telling.

Fortune favours the brave and Carls the bravest of all.

    good post!

  13. Is it me or did Froch look noticeably quicker against Bute than he did against Ward?
