Not really, well maybe a little. But... let's assume that Holmes takes Mercer not as a 42-year-old but as a 30-year-old... He could have been a barrier to Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, with each of them he would have been a favorite for me, even with Bowe who was the best of them but whose style would suit him best. He could fight effectively, but he had no charisma, and compared to Tyson he might have seemed boring. We could see good fights but would they be better than Holmes-Norton/Cooney/Whitearspoon, better than the Bowe-Holy trilogy, better than Evander vs. Michael Moorer?

If Mike Tyson had been released from prison, he would probably have met a similar or more broken and burnt-out Holmes in 1996 than Carl Williams and Michael Spinks did. I don't know if he would have won if it was said that for 5 years the heavyweight division did not have a real champion, as was said in 1995, calling the 1990s the worst era.

There are people here who lived at that time, don't you really remember that until 1996, until Holyfield defeated Tyson, the 90s were considered weaker than the 80s and much weaker than the 70s? Don't you remember how they laughed about the fat Foreman being the champion? Bruno was defeated with the champions in the 1980s, Axel Shulz was boring, Frans Botha was a parody of the boxer? that Seldon was the champion, that Lewis's fights with McCall and Akinwande were a parody and that the real champion is in prison, really no one remembers this?
