The physical drain to light-heavy and then just general aging really. I wish he;d retire. He is just being destroyed by guys who would of had no chance before... really sad...
THIS...And also the fact that he his a reflexes fighter and the first thing you lose when getting old is reflexes...His defence was based on it and now he can't do it anymore...B-hop was smart enough to adapt his style when he got older...
I am on the train, i wish him a fairytail win and retire with a belf, Wlodarcyk, he could win if he doesnt get KTFO,, war jones Yall must have forgot!
The problem with that 1 last win for Roy is that it would prob give him the idea that he can still keep it together and keep on goin...I'd like him to retire now, cos these losses are ruining his legacy
:err I am scared... Roy could get killed in that fight!.... Wlod is a real hard hitter. Watch his KO of Green and Fragomeni in the second fight. :err:err Please no Wlod-RJJ.... If my excessive usage of scared smilies doesn't make you understand how bad this fight is now then I guess nothing will lol. :yep
He never fought the same after Tarver knocked him out. He became far more cautious and ceased being Roy. The last fight he was truly "Roy" in was the first Tarver fight. A lot of people point to the weight drain going back to 175, and surely that took a toll on him physically. But mentally Roy was broken after he was stopped by Tarver. His only true flash of brilliance was round 5 of the 3rd Tarver fight. For whatever reason he decided to go for it that round, but then he went back into clowning/survival mode.
People blow the loss of muscle way out of proportion, he was 193lb vs Ruiz ... thats just slightly above his normal fighting weight except he did not have to dehydrate. Think the reality is that he got caught which happens to a lot of fighters except it left a HUGE mark on him mentally. After that happened even though he still had the physical tools he just went into this clowning/survival mode to prevent getting knockedout again, which just made things worse. By now though age did catchup to him and outside of fast hands his legs are gone, and so is his confidence.
