I would have liked for him to see the 70s, 80s and beyond boxing scene. If he had just aged and died naturally, he probably would have lived into the 2000s or 2010s. Based on when he may have been born, he could still be living today. He'd be in his 90s or close to it. If he was still living and in his right mind, I wonder what he would have to say about the current HW division? Or would he would have said about Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, the K2 Brothers or even Mike Weaver.
If Liston were still alive today hed be 274 years old based on what some people believe. I tend to think that he died of natural causes and not a heroin overdose at the ripe old age of 224 years old. Making him an already remarkable 214 years old when he became a contender.
I don’t think Sonny by the end of his lonesome road really cared if he lived to the next day, the man was on a sprint to the end of his life and was set up for failure by his own parents, his friends, mentors, and his sport.
He probably would have said the following: "If Weaver had been around in my era, he would have beaten everybody. Including Floyd Patterson and Cassius Clay.,
